摘要: The present invention relates to a gypsum composition comprising recycled gypsum and a foam former comprising at least one alpha-sulfo fatty acid disalt, to a process for production thereof and to an article comprising the gypsum composition of the invention. The present invention further relates to the use of a foam former comprising at least one alpha-sulfo fatty acid disalt for reducing the wet density of an aqueous gypsum composition having a recycled gypsum content of at least 0.5% by weight.

摘要: Foamed fiber compositions and processes of making said compositions. Compositions include a hydraulic mixture including (i) a polymer and (ii) one or more of gypsum, fly ash, and cement; and a foam including a foaming agent, a foam stabilizer, and 0.5-35% fibers by weight. The process for forming the foamed fiber composition includes providing a stable foam including a foaming agent and a foam stabilizer; mixing fibers into the stable foam until the fibers are uniformly distributed in the foam to form a fiber-containing foam, wherein the fiber-containing aqueous foam contains 0.5-35% fibers by weight; and mixing the fiber-containing foam into a hydraulic slurry including (i) a polymer and (ii) one or more of gypsum, fly ash, and cement. The composition is suitable for use in roof tiles, underlayments, backerboards, cement composites, foam fills, bricks, cement sidings, etc.

摘要: A system and method for disposing carbon dioxide is disclosed. The system includes a foam generator that generates a plurality of disposable foam vessels from a polymer based solution mixed with water and captured carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The plurality of disposable foam vessels contains an amount of carbon dioxide. The plurality of disposable foam vessels is mixed in a cementitious material with a set of mixers. In a preferred embodiment, the set of mixers is a concrete mixing plant. During the curing process of the cementitious material the plurality of disposable foam vessels dissipates allowing for a timely release of CO2 to chemically react with the surrounding cementitious material. This irreversible chemistry change permanently disposes of the carbon dioxide.

摘要: Methods and an associated system for processing unhardened concrete are disclosed. With these methods, the porosity of the unhardened concrete is significantly increased to decrease the strength so much that it can be easily broken up for sale or reuse. In at least one embodiment, the method includes adding a large volume of foam to the returned unhardened concrete and then mixing the foam with the returned concrete in the ready-mix concrete truck or other concrete mixing devices at any location including the jobsite, enroute to the concrete plant, or at the concrete plant. Through the mixing of foam with the returned concrete, the hydrated cement and aggregate particles are separated by large volumes of air voids, which significantly increase the porosity and dramatically reduce the strength of the returned concrete. The treated concrete is discharged and allowed to solidify in this weakened state, after which it is easily broken into loose particulate material that can be sold or reused.

摘要: A low strength backfill material having a 28 days compressive strength less than approximately 2.0 MPa is provided. The backfill is suitable for use in areas with dense underground utilities due to its high excavatability and good thermal conductivity. The backfill includes a cementitious binder of approximately 1 weight percent to approximately 10 weight percent and fine aggregates in an amount of approximately 40 to approximately 75 weight percent. Filler is provided at 20 microns to approximately 100 microns for high flowability. A density-controlling agent of 0.0001-5 weight percent is used such that the density of a cured backfill material is approximately 1600 kg/m3 to 2000 kg/m3. Thermally conductive particles having a size range of approximately 0.01 microns to 500 microns in an amount of approximately 0.1 to 10 weight percent are evenly dispersed throughout the backfill.

摘要: An improved freeze-thaw durability wet cast cementitious composition is provided that uses in-situ production of gas by gas generating additives and optionally polymeric microspheres that are blended directly into the mixture. The gas generating additives and the polymeric microspheres provide void spaces in the material matrix, and such void spaces act to increase freeze-thaw durability of the material.

摘要: An additive for use in the preparation of lightweight concrete, said additive including a blend of from around 40% to 99% of organic polymeric material and from 1% to around 60% clean air entraining agent. The additive is particularly suitable for the preparation of lightweight concrete which uses polystyrene aggregate. It provides for excellent dispersion of the polystyrene aggregate and improved bond between the polystyrene aggregate and surrounding cementitious binder. The resultant lightweight concrete formulation may be pumped and is particularly suitable for sandwich wall construction.

摘要: The present invention relates to a system and method for the production of gypsum board using starch pellets. In accordance with the present disclosure, the starch necessary for board formation is provided in the form of starch pellets. These pellets are mixed with a gypsum slurry in a mixer. The pellets are initially insoluble and do not dissolve. However, during subsequent drying stages, the pellets become soluble and dissolve into the gypsum phase. This both provides the desired starch component and also results in the formation of voids within the set gypsum.
