The device includes a control lever pivotly mounted to the bracket adjacent the brake lever. A pin is slidably associated with the brake lever and a hole is provided in the control lever such that the brake lever and control lever may be engaged by the pin when the brake lever is in the off position. The control lever is linked to a reverse gear lock-out such that with the pin engaged, application of the brake will result in actuation of the lock-out mechanism.

    摘要: Back-pedal brake operator for multi-speed bicycles in which the brake operating action is obtained by turning the foot pedals rearwardly a short distance from any position which the pedals may occupy at the instant when the driver wishes to apply braking action, the braking operation being obtained without utilizing the sprocket chain to apply the braking force, and the brakes are automatically released without any "lock-up" effect when the driver starts pedaling forward in the normal manner. The back-pedal operators shown are directly associated with the sprocket assembly as a compact self-contained unit integrated therewith and can be installed as original equipment by bicycle manufacturers or can be retrofitted by bicycle shops or owners on existing multi-speed bicycles. The bicycle is permitted to be wheeled freely rearwardly without the brakes becoming applied. The back-pedal brake operator can be adapted for adjustable automatic proportioning of the relative braking efforts to be exerted on the rear and front wheels. This invention also enables dual actuated braking systems to be installed in multi-speed bicycles for either hand or foot operation (or both) of the brakes. The presently preferred braking system automatically applies a relatively greater braking effort to the rear wheel than to the front wheel.

    摘要: An emergency braking system for a vehicle having a transmission of the type having a plurality of selectively pressurized control ports for operating respective clutches for engaging the drive gears in predetermined combinations to provide respective driving ratios. An auxiliary pump of the positive displacement type is driven by one of the vehicle wheels to produce a source of emergency pressure fluid which is available as long as the vehicle is in motion. Emergency valve means are provided for connecting the output of the auxiliary pump simultaneously to a plurality of the control ports on the transmission which tends to connect the gears in contradictory combinations thereby to block the transmission against rotation to provide emergency braking for the vehicle wheels which are connected to the transmission. The auxiliary pump is bridged by pairs of check valves connected face-to-face and back-to-back so that pressurized fluid is available at the output regardless of whether the vehicle is moving forwardly or backing up. The emergency valve means is in the form of an override valve having a set of normal inlet ports connected to the respective control lines and outlet ports connected to the respective control ports of the transmission. The override valve has an emergency inlet port and a plunger responsive thereto which acts to connect the emergency inlet port overridingly to the control ports of the transmission when pressurized fluid is applied from the auxiliary pump.

    摘要: The invention comprises a transmission control console attachable to a vehicle. The console includes an enclosure with a gear shift regulator extending therefrom, the regulator serving to control the transmission of the vehicle. Generally, the regulator will have forward, reverse, and neutral settings. Also a part of the console is a parking brake actuator adjacent the enclosure, the actuator serving to control a parking brake of the vehicle. Means are provided responsive to movement of the actuator to cause engagement of the parking brake for interlocking the actuator to the regulator only when the regulator is in its neutral setting, whereby shifting out of the neutral setting is prevented when the actuator and the regulator are interlocked, and engagement of the brake is prevented when the regulator is not in the neutral setting.

    摘要: A vehicle parking brake release control mechanism is hydraulically actuated to release the parking brake. The mechanism is actuated by transmission line pressure and is controlled by the admission of the highest of transmission governor pressure or forward or reverse pressures to a control valve which controls the admission and exhaust of line pressure from the hydraulic release servomotor. The release servomotor is de-energized when there is insufficient governor or forward or reverse pressure to actuate it. When the servomotor is energized the brakes may be modulatingly applied through the parking brake control mechanism to stop the vehicle.
