Abstract: A kit for preparing a cured article may include first and second casting compositions configured to form a curable composition, and an additive delivery composition for introducing an additive into the curable composition. The additive delivery composition includes a liquid carrier and at least one additive. The liquid carrier may include one or more of polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, or polyacrylate. A mold assembly for preparing a cured article may include a first mold body defining a first mold chamber and a groove surrounding the first mold chamber. The mold assembly further includes a second mold body defining a second mold chamber and a tongue surrounding the second mold chamber. The tongue is receivable into the groove to secure the first and second mold bodies. The first and second mold chambers together define a mold volume configured to receive and shape the curable composition.

Abstract: A composite material layer, which is a curable resin which is in the form of a solid layer at 20° C., the composite material layer being a prepreg of at least one ply of fibrous reinforcement material at least partly impregnated by the curable resin or a film of the curable resin, wherein at least 50 wt % of the curable resin comprises at least one polymerisable vinyl ester prepolymer having at least two carbon-carbon unsaturated functional groups, the prepolymer being polymerisable by reaction of the unsaturated functional groups to form a cured resin, wherein the curable resin further is a free-radical curing system for polymerizing the polymerisable vinyl ester prepolymer.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to printing apparatus and manufacturing techniques for the manufacture and fabrication of pressure suits and space suits. The disclosure also relates to space suit components formed from additive polymer, and components including one or more layers of a mesh fabric with an applied layer of an additive polymer. One method includes providing an apparatus comprised of a six-degree of freedom motion manipulator with the motion manipulator attached to one or more printing extruder heads. Additive polymers may be extruded via the one or more printing extruder heads to form 3D printed space suit components.

Abstract: Provided are a method and an apparatus for manufacturing a fiber-reinforced resin molding material by which, when the fiber-reinforced resin molding material is manufactured, separated fiber bundles can be supplied to a cutting machine in stable condition while avoiding the influence of meandering of the fiber bundles or slanting or meandering of filaments occurring in the fiber bundles. A method for manufacturing a sheet-shaped fiber-reinforced resin molding material in which spaces between filaments of cut-out fiber bundles (CF) are impregnated with resin includes, so that a condition of the following expression (1) is satisfied, intermittently separating fibers of the continuous fiber bundles (CF) in a longitudinal direction by a rotational blade (18) serving as a fiber separating part and cutting out the fiber bundles with an interval therebetween in a longitudinal direction of a cutting machine (13A) to obtain the cut-out fiber bundles (CF). Abstract: A coated filament for use in additive manufacturing includes a base polymer layer formed of a base polymer material and a coating polymer layer formed of a coating polymer material. At least the coating polymer material is susceptible to dielectric heating in response to electromagnetic radiation, thereby promoting fusion between adjacent beads of coated filament that are deposited during the additive manufacturing process. Specifically, when electromagnetic radiation is applied to an interface area between two adjacent beads of the coated filament, the polymer coating layer melts to diffuse across the interface area, thereby preventing formation of voids. The base polymer material and the coating polymer material of the coated filament also may have similar melting points and compatible solubility parameters to further promote fusion between beads.

Abstract: A hollow fiber membrane is formed by embedding a braid having a spiral open weave of monofilaments only, to avoid a “whiskering” problem. The open weave is characterized by contiguous, circumferential, rhomboid-shaped areas of polymer film separated by monofilaments. When the braid is supported on a plasticized PVA cable having a scalloped periphery, the braid can be infiltrated with membrane polymer which, when coagulated, embeds the braid positioning it around the lumen. The embedded spiral weave, free of any circumferentially constricting monofilament, allows the membrane to be biaxially distensible. The membrane has “give” not only in the axial or longitudinal direction but also in the radial direction. “Give” in the radial direction permits soiled membranes to be backwashed under higher pressure than in a comparable braid which is not radially distensible.

At least two fluids to be processed, a raw material fluid that contains a raw material and a processing fluid that contains a substance for processing the raw material are mixed in a thin film fluid formed between at least two surfaces for processing that are disposed so as to face each other, that can approach and separate from each other and at least one of which rotates relative to the other, and microparticles of the raw material that is processed are obtained. At this time, the proportion of the microparticles of the raw material which has been processed that coalesces with each other is controlled by controlling the circumferential speed of the rotation in a confluence section in which the raw material fluid and processing fluid flow together.
