Abstract: A data alignment method capable of preventing degradation in demodulation performance due to variation in signal qualities when a data signal to which a Turbo code is applied is transmitted simultaneously from a plurality of cells. The method divides signal components to be used for data alignment into resources common to all the cells and resources dependent on the cells and transmits encoded and rate-matched data with the first half thereof aligned to the resources common to all the cells and the second half thereof aligned to the resources dependent on the cells.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a decoder for decoding a data signal received through a transmission channel in a communication system, said transmission channel being represented by an upper triangular matrix, said signal carrying transmitted symbols, each symbol carrying a set of information bits, wherein said decoder comprises: a processing unit (213) configured to determine at least one sub-block decoding parameter given a target quality of service metric; A sub-block decoding unit (214) configured to divide said data signal into a number of sub-vectors based on said at least one sub-block decoding parameter in accordance with a division of said upper triangular matrix into a number of sub-matrices, said sub-block decoding unit (214) being further configured to determine at least one estimate of each sub-vector of transmitted symbols from said sub-vectors, and determine an estimate of the transmitted symbols from said estimates.

Abstract: A method for transmitting and processing a broadcast signal according to an embodiment of the present invention may comprise the steps of: generating broadcast data for one or more broadcast services; generating first level signaling information comprising information describing attributes for the one or more broadcast services; generating second level signaling information comprising information for listing the one or more broadcast services; generating link layer packets comprising encoded broadcast data, the first level signaling information and the second level signaling information; and generating a broadcast signal comprising the generated link layer packets.

Abstract: A method for transmitting acknowledgement/negative acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) signals by an apparatus in a wireless communication system. The apparatus spreads ACK/NACKs using spreading codes of a spreading factor, the spreading factor being one of a first spreading factor equal to 2 and a second spreading factor equal to 4. The apparatus transmits one or more physical hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) indicator channel (PHICH) groups allocated in units of four resource elements, each PHICH group carrying up to four ACK/NACK signals for the first spreading factor, and up to eight ACK/NACK signals for the second spreading factor. A total number of allocated PHICH groups for the first spreading factor is determined as twice a total number of allocated PHICH groups for the second spreading factor. Each ACK/NACK signal is identified using an index pair of a PHICH group index and a spreading code index.

Abstract: Rate control is provided for communicating within a wireless communication network. In some examples, redundant packet information transmitted over separate links, each link having its own independent rate control loop, can result in improvement in packet reliability with fast convergence to a desired error level. In other examples, artificial degradation of a received data stream can be utilized to improve packet reliability, also with fast convergence to the desired error level.

Abstract: In a method for adjusting the modulation of information onto subcarriers transmitted on a network, a first modulation profile of a network node on the network is set a first density. A plurality of messages in support of a link maintenance operation (LMO) on the network are monitored. The first modulation profile of the network node is updated to a second modulation profile having a second density. The updating is based on the monitored messages. Interference is detected by determining that a link between the first network node and a second network node on the network is not conveying a predetermined class of messages correctly. The first network node is set to a third modulation profile more robust than the first and second modulation profiles in response to the detected interference. The third modulation profile is common to each network node on the network.
