摘要: An asymmetric amplifier circuit is disclosed. The amplifier circuit includes an input-stage circuit and an output-stage circuit. The input stage circuit can include a first terminal with a first input impedance and a second terminal with a second input impedance different than the first input impedance. The input-stage circuit may be configured to receive a first input signal on the first input terminal, receive a second input signal on the second input terminal, and generate a first amplified signal and a second amplified signal using the first input signal and the second input signal. The output-stage circuit may be configured to asymmetrically combine the first amplified signal and the second amplified signal to generate an output signal.

摘要: The operational amplifier disclosed includes an input stage configured to receive power from a floating supply in a low voltage range that can float according to the common mode voltage at the input. The floating supply facilitates the use of low voltage components that can improve the precision of the operational amplifier by lowering the offset voltage. The input stage includes a first gain stage including field effect transistors and a second gain stage using bipolar transistors. The gain stages can be implemented differently to accommodate different applications and fabrication capabilities.

摘要: A linearization circuit that reduces intermodulation distortion in an amplifier output receives a first signal that includes a first frequency and a second frequency and generates a difference signal having a frequency approximately equal to the difference of the first frequency and the second frequency. The linearization circuit generates an envelope signal based at least in part on a power level of the first signal and adjusts a magnitude of the difference signal based on the envelope signal. When the amplifier receives the first signal at an input terminal and the adjusted signal at a second terminal, intermodulation between the adjusted signal and the first signal cancels at least a portion of the intermodulation products that result from the intermodulation of the first frequency and the second frequency.

摘要: A variable gain amplifier having stabilized frequency response for widened gain control range. A resistor-capacitor compensation network is provided between two differential current input ports and corresponding emitter nodes of cross-coupled four transistors in the variable gain amplifier to desensitize the gain control voltages to the system noise and provide compensation to the VGA frequency response when the differential gain control voltage varies the gain setting, yielding a substantially stabilized frequency response over a −3 dB bandwidth ranging from 1 GHz to 60 GHz with a widened gain control range up to 12 dB without increasing power consumption.

The first stage TWA circuitry includes a first input transmission line, a first output transmission line, and a first plurality of amplifiers coupled antiparallel between the first input transmission line and the first output transmission line. The first set of discrete gain settings has approximately constant logarithmic spacing.

摘要: Provided herein are amplifiers, such as buffers, with increased headroom. An amplifier stage includes a follower transistor and current source configured to receive a power supply voltage comprising an alternating current component and a direct current component. The alternating current component of the power supply voltage has substantially the same frequency and magnitude as the input signal received by the follower transistor. In radio frequency (RF) and intermediate frequency (IF) buffer applications, for example, the increased headroom can allow for linear buffering of an input signals with increased amplitude so that the output power one decibel (OP1dB) compression point can be increased.
