The system further comprises a pumping source having optical output directed towards the gain medium. A laser controller operates the pumping source. The system further comprises a heat spreader, the heat spreader in thermal communication with the gain medium through a surface wherein the pump source has optical output incident.

摘要: A solid-state laser system may include first and second solid-state laser units, a wavelength conversion system, an optical shutter, and a controller. The first solid-state laser unit and the second solid-state laser unit may output first pulsed laser light with a first wavelength and second pulsed laser light with a second wavelength, respectively. The controller may perform first control and second control. The first control may cause the first and second pulsed laser light to enter the wavelength conversion system at a substantially coincidental timing, thereby causing the wavelength conversion system to output third pulsed laser light with a third wavelength converted from the first wavelength and the second wavelength, and the second control may prevent the first and second pulsed laser light from entering the wavelength conversion system at the coincidental timing, thereby preventing the wavelength conversion system from outputting the third pulsed laser light.

摘要: A laser system includes a laser element, a pump source configured to input light to the laser element, a first cooling circuit and a second cooling circuit. The first cooling circuit includes a first pump configured to drive a first flow of cooling liquid through a first fluid pathway, a first primary heat exchanger configured to cool the first flow of cooling liquid, and a laser element heat exchanger configured to remove heat from the laser element using the first flow of cooling liquid. The second cooling circuit includes a second pump configured to drive a flow of cooling liquid through a second fluid pathway, a second primary heat exchanger configured to cool the second flow of cooling liquid, and a pump source heat exchanger configured to remove heat from the pump source using the first and second flows of cooling liquid.

摘要: An economical slab laser for high power applications. The laser is a lamp driven slab design with face-to-face beam propagation and an end reflection that redirects the amplified radiation back out the input surface. Also presented is a side-to-side larger amplifier configuration, permitting very high average and peak powers due to the electrical efficiency of converting and getting energy into the crystal, optical extraction efficiency, and scalability of device architecture. Cavity filters adjacent to pump lamps convert the unusable UV portion of the pump lamp spectrum into light in the absorption band of the slab laser thereby increasing the overall pump efficiency. The angle of the end reflecting surface is changed to cause the exit beam to be at a different angle than the inlet beam, thereby eliminating the need to separate the beams external to the laser with the subsequent loss of power.

摘要: An improved solid-state laser for generating sub-200 nm light is described. This laser uses a fundamental wavelength between about 1030 nm and 1065 nm to generate the sub-200 nm light. The final frequency conversion stage of the laser creates the sub-200 nm light by mixing a wavelength of approximately 1109 nm with a wavelength of approximately 234 nm. By proper selection of non-linear media, such mixing can be achieved by nearly non-critical phase matching. This mixing results in high conversion efficiency, good stability, and high reliability.

摘要: A synchronously-pumped optical parametric oscillator (OPO 10) driven by the second harmonic output of a Kerr-lens-mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser (12) generates femtosecond pulses with wide tunability in the visible and ultraviolet spectrum. The OPO uses bismuth triborate, BiB3O6 (or BIBO) or a substituted form thereof, in collinear critical phase-matching as the nonlinear gain crystal (24). Using simple crystal rotation at room temperature, a continuous tuning range from 480 nm to 710 nm is achieved with a single BIBO crystal (24) and a single set of mirrors (26, 28, 30) for the OPO cavity. The OPO (10) generates up to 27 OmW of average power across the available tuning range and can deliver femtosecond pulses at a repetition rate of 76 MHz. Frequency doubling of the visible signal pulses from the OPO (10) is also achieved in the crystal of β-BaB2O4, external and internal to the OPO resonator (10), providing femtosecond pulses with wide tunability in the 235 nm to 355 nm in the ultraviolet at average powers of up to 100 mW.

摘要: An electro-optic device for use with a laser beam. A crystal has a first face and a second face. Means are provided for applying a voltage across the crystal to obtain a net phase retardation on the polarization of the laser beam when the laser beam is passed through the crystal. In one embodiment the crystal is composed of a compound having the chemical formula ReAe40(BO3)3 where: RE consists of one or more of the following elements La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Th, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu and two other elements Y and Sc; and where Ae is from the list of Ca, Sr, or Ba.

摘要: A crystalline material for optically pumped solid state lasers has the chemical composition of M3RE1nullxYbx(BO3)3, where M is selected from the group Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, and Ra, optionally replaced at least partially with another element from this group, RE is selected from the group Sc, Y, Lu, and Y partially replaced with Lu, and x is greater than or equal to 0 and less than or equal to 1. The material is useful for preparing lasers having high average initial power and short pulse duration, and has flat amplification and fluorescence spectra, high thermal conductivity and a large emission cross-section.

The NLO crystal is passivated with at least one of hydrogen, deuterium, a hydrogen-containing compound or a deuterium-containing compound to a selected passivation level. The system further includes at least one light source, wherein at least one light source is configured to generate light of a selected wavelength and at least one light source is configured to transmit light through the NLO crystal. The system further includes a crystal housing unit configured to house the NLO crystal.
