Abstract: An actuator in a HVAC system includes a mechanical transducer, a processing circuit, a wireless transceiver, and a power circuit. The processing circuit includes a processor and memory and is configured to operate the mechanical transducer according to a control program stored in the memory. The wireless transceiver is configured to facilitate bidirectional wireless data communications between the processing circuit and an external device. The power circuit is configured to draw power from a wireless signal received via the wireless transceiver and power the processing circuit and the wireless transceiver using the drawn power. The processing circuit is configured to use the power drawn from the wireless signal to wirelessly transmit data stored in the memory of the actuator to the external device via the wireless transceiver, wirelessly receive data from the external device via the wireless transceiver, and store the data received from the external device in the memory.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses disclosed herein can be implemented as a closed loop feedback system to provide various atmospheric effects. These systems, methods, and apparatuses can regulate these atmospheric effects based on one or more environmental measurements as part of the closed loop feedback system. As part of the closed loop feedback system, these systems, methods, and apparatuses can detect, or measure, one or more physical properties, such as temperature, atmospheric pressure, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, precipitation amount, scent, location, altitude, and/or azimuth to provide some examples. These systems, methods, and apparatuses can compare the one or more physical properties with one or more performance targets of the atmospheric effects and can regulate the atmospheric effects to cause the one or more physical properties to satisfy the one or more performance targets of the atmospheric effects.

Abstract: A Thermal Performance Forecast approach is described that can be used to forecast heating and cooling fuel consumption based on changes to user preferences and building-specific parameters that include indoor temperature, building insulation, HVAC system efficiency, and internal gains. A simplified version of the Thermal Performance Forecast approach, called the Approximated Thermal Performance Forecast, provides a single equation that accepts two fundamental input parameters and four ratios that express the relationship between the existing and post-change variables for the building properties to estimate future fuel consumption. The Approximated Thermal Performance Forecast approach marginally sacrifices accuracy for a simplified forecast. In addition, the thermal conductivity, effective window area, and thermal mass of a building can be determined using different combinations of utility consumption, outdoor temperature data, indoor temperature data, internal heating gains data, and HVAC system efficiency as inputs.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided and include a variable frequency drive configured to drive a fan motor of an HVAC system to ventilate an indoor space, the HVAC system having a cooling assembly that includes at least one of an economizer and a compressor. A controller is configured to communicate with the variable frequency drive, receive at least one signal from an occupancy sensing device, determine whether the indoor space is less than fully occupied based on the at least one signal, and control the variable frequency drive to reduce a speed of the fan motor in response to determining that the indoor space is less than fully occupied.

Abstract: A fluid flow device that can accurately and inexpensively measure a flow of a fluid can be implemented in a fan-powered unit, comprising a fan or other fluid-moving device. By accurately measuring the flow of the fluid to the fan, insights or efficiencies can be determined regarding operation of a larger system such as a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system or other system. For instance, various procedures, including measuring, controlling, balancing, maintenance, prediction, or calibration procedures can leverage differential pressure measurement and/or the determined flow to the fan. As an example, current settings of the fan can be compared to historical fan settings to identify changes in fan load for a given fluid flow demand. Such can indicate changes in downstream or upstream devices, which can be used to indicate a device requires maintenance or another indicator.

Abstract: A building system of a building including one or more memory devices having instructions thereon, that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to receive a modification to a graph, the graph comprising a plurality of nodes and a plurality of edges between the plurality of nodes, the plurality of nodes representing entities of the building and the plurality of edges representing relationships between the entities of the building. The instructions cause the one or more processors to generate a change feed event, the change feed event recording the modification to the graph and add the change feed event to a change feed comprising a plurality of change feed events representing modifications to the graph at a plurality of different times.
