Abstract: Disclosed are a method for manufacturing a display panel and a display panel obtained thereby. The method includes steps of: dividing a first substrate and a second substrate coated with an alignment film each into an irradiation area and a shaded area; irradiating the first substrate and the second substrate with ultraviolet light, so as to decompose polymers of the alignment film in the irradiation area; heating the alignment film to cure it; rubbing the alignment film to form grooves; and manufacturing the display panel. Multi-domain display can be realized in the display panel.

Abstract: The present invention provides a pixel electrode. The pixel electrode comprises a peripheral frame electrode that is in an enclosed form and at least one pair of peripheral edges of the peripheral frame electrode are provided, on outer sides thereof, with a sawtooth-like configuration. The sawtooth-like configuration comprises tooth troughs having an extension direction that is substantially parallel to and consistent with an extension direction of branch electrodes of the pixel electrode corresponding thereto so that liquid crystal in an area corresponding to the peripheral frame electrode may incline in the direction of the branch electrodes in the same way as liquid crystal in an inside area of the peripheral frame electrode inclines in such a direction to prevent the occurrence of dark patterns in the area corresponding to the peripheral frame electrode. Application of the pixel electrode to an HVA liquid crystal display panel would effectively improve transmission rate and brightness of the liquid crystal display panel so as to improve the display performance.

Abstract: Provided is a novel display device which includes a cholesteric liquid crystal and in which a rewritable region and a region capable of retaining display content can coexist. The connection of a capacitor to a liquid crystal element including a cholesteric liquid crystal can be externally controlled, so that display can be maintained or changed. The connection of the capacitor to the liquid crystal element can be controlled using a transistor as a switching element. When a transistor including an oxide semiconductor is used as the transistor, leakage can be reduced and the voltage of the capacitor can be favorably retained.

Abstract: A liquid crystal display device which prevents a decrease in the voltage holding ratio (VHR) of a liquid crystal layer and an increase in ion density (ID) therein and which overcomes problems of defective display such as voids, uneven alignment, and screen burn-in. The liquid crystal display device prevents a decrease in the voltage holding ratio (VHR) of a liquid crystal layer and an increase in ion density (ID) therein and reduces defective display such as screen burn-in; hence, such a liquid crystal display device is particularly useful as liquid crystal display devices of a VA mode and PSVA mode which involve active matrix driving and can be applied to the liquid crystal display devices of liquid crystal TV sets, monitors, mobile phones, and smartphones.
