Abstract:
A process is disclosed for producing starch/polyolefin polymer compositions by polymerization of at least one olefin in the presence of a Ziegler-Natta catalyst. The Ziegler-Natta catalyst used is obtained by contacting dried starch with an aluminum trialkyl followed by introducing a transition metal compound of the formula(cyclopentadienyl).sub.n MR.sub.mwherein M is selected from the group consisting of Cr, Ti, V or Zr, R is a lower hydrocarbon radical or acetyl acetonate, and n and m are integers from 0 to 4 and n+m equals 2 to 4.
Abstract:
THE INVENTION RELATES TO PRODUCTS OF UNKNOWN CHEMICAL STRUCTURE PREPARED BY REACTING A BORATE ESTER SUCH AS TRIMETHYL BORATE, TRIETHYL BORATE, TRIPROPYL BORATE, TRIBUTYL BORATE, TRIHEXYL BORATE, TRIHEXYLENE GLYCOL BIBORATE, TRIM,P-CRESYL BORATE, AND TRIMETHOXYLBOROXXINE WITH A CHLORIDE OF A METAL SELECTED FROM THE GROUP CONSISTING OF TI(IV), ZR(IV), HF(IV), SN(IV), AL(III), FE(III), GA(III), IN(III), MO(V), NB(V), TA(V), AND W(VI) IN A MOLAR RATIO OF AT LEAST 0.33 MOLE OF THE SELECTED BORATE ESTER FOR EACH MOLE OF THE CHLORIDE OF THE SELECTED METAL IN A SUBSTANTIALLY ANYDROUS DILUENT, SUCH AS AN EXCESS OF THE SELECTED BORATE ESTER, METHYLENE CHLORIDE, CHLOROFORM, AND CARBON TETRACHLORIDE, AT A TEMPERATURE BETWEEN ROOM TEMPERATURE AND ABOUT 200*C. UNTIL THE REACTION MIXTURE CEASES TO GIVE OFF ORGANIC CHLORIDE THEREBY FORMING ALIQUOR COMPRISING THE DILUENT AND A COMPOUND OF COMPLEX CHEMICAL STRUCTURE COMPRISING THE SELECTED METAL, BORON, CARBON, HYDROGEN, CHLORINE, AND OXYGEN. THEN THERE IS ADDED TO SAID LIQUOR A SILICON-CONTAINING COMPOUND CONFORMING TO THE FORMULA CLNSIR4-N WHERE N IS AN INTERGER FROM 1 TO 4 AND R IS AN ALKYL OR ARYL RADICAL IN A MOLAR QUANTITY NOT GREATER THAN THAT OF THE CHLORIDE OF THE SELECTED METAL TO REACT WITH SAID COMPLEX COMPOUND AT A TEMPERATURE BETWEEN ROOM TEMPERATURE AND ABOUT 200*C. THEREBY FORMING A SECOND COMPOUND OF COMPLEX CHEMICAL STRUCTURE. THE SECOND COMPOUND OF COMPLEX CHEMICAL STRUCTURE MAY BE ISOLATED BY REMOVING VOLATILE MATERIAL FROM THE REACTION MIXTURE BY EVAPORATION. SILICON TETRACHLORIDE, DIMETHYL-DICHLOROSILANE, DIPHENYLDICHLOROSILANE AND TRIMETHYLCHLOROSILANE ARE ILLUSTRATIVE OF COMPOUNDS CONFORMING TO THE FORMULA CLNSIR4-N.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an agent for treating textile having a combination of a modifying agent and a fixing agent, wherein the modifying agent is a fluorine-containing phosphoric acid derivative represented by the formula wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are, same or different, a hydrogen atom or R.sub.f --(CH).sub.2).sub.m -- (wherein R.sub.f is a saturated or unsaturated, linear or branched fluorine containing aliphatic group having 4 to 20 carbon atoms in which an oxygen atom, a nitrogen atom, a sulfonyl group and/or an aromatic ring may intervene between the carbon atoms; and m is 1 or 2) (R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 each is not simultaneously a hydrogen atom), A is an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom or a direct bond, and n is 1 or 2, and having a molecular weight of not larger than 2,000 or a salt thereof, and the fixing agent is a metal salt compound; and a method for treating a textile by using the above agent for treating a textile and, if necessary, a fluorine-containing water- and oil-repellent or a fluorine-containing stainproofing agent. The present invention can maintain the touch, feeling, color shade and softness originally possessed by the fibers even if the textile is treated. The present invention can maintain the above properties even if the textile is subjected to a long term use including the washing and rubbing, and can impart hot water repellency and durable water- and oil-repellency.
