Overspray treatment compositions for addition to a water source located within a paint overspray waterwash system located in a spray-paint booth, or a water source that is subsequently applied to such a paint overspray waterwash system for contact with a paint overspray include an amine-functionalized colloidal silica having about 0.1 μmol to 15.00 μmol of amine functionality per square meter of silica surface area, and optionally a coagulant. The compositions and methods described herein work within a pH range of 6.5 and 10 to provide treated paint oversprays. Addition of a flocculant to a treated overspray results in formation of associated complexes having low tack, which may be cleanly separated from the aqueous treatment residue. The aqueous treatment residue may be subjected to one or more additional cycles of use in the paint overspray waterwash system.

In combination, the pair of 5-gallon buckets facilitate the separation of water and paint allowing the proper disposal of the paint. One method of using the 5-gallon buckets involves: (i) pouring paint water into the first 5-gallon bucket; (ii) adding aluminum sulfate and hydrated lime; (iii) waiting for the aluminum sulfate and hydrated lime to separate the paint and water with the paint collecting at the bottom of the bucket; (iv) positioning the first 5-gallon bucket atop the second 5-gallon bucket with the drain aligned with the lid opening; and (v) pushing the drainpipe down allowing water to enter the upper opening of the drainpipe and pour into the second bucket; and (vi) stopping efforts to push down the drainpipe before paint begins to enter the drainpipe.

This porous support has a polymer porous layer on one surface of a nonwoven cloth layer, the nonwoven cloth layer having an MD bend stiffness of 1.2 to 2.1 g·cm2/cm, and an MD bend recovery of 0.3 to 0.6 g·cm/cm. The nonwoven cloth layer is impregnated with a polymer that is the material for forming the polymer porous layer, the impregnation ratio of the polymer impregnated in the nonwoven cloth layer being 25 to 34% by weight of the total weight of the polymer in the polymer porous layer and the polymer impregnated in the nonwoven cloth layer.

An apparatus for recycling rinsing wastewater for electropainting is provided. The apparatus includes a pre-filtration unit, a primary treated-water tank, a micro filtration unit, a secondary treated-water tank, an ultrafiltration unit, an active carbon filtration unit, a final treated-water tank, and an ultrasonic sterilizing unit. Accordingly, sludge is reduced through physical treatment without using a coagulant. Advantageously, the apparatus is installed at facilities having a reduced scale and provides additional facility options available due to elimination of a chlorine disinfectant. Furthermore the apparatus reduces costs for purchasing a coagulant, purchasing a disinfectant, and treating sludge, suppresses corrosion of a filtering device, and increases filtration time by delaying fouling of a filtering device.
