Abstract:
A powertrain comprising an engine, a motor, a disconnect clutch connected between the engine and the motor, and a transmission. The transmission is connected to the motor by a torque converter and lock-up clutch and selectively and indirectly connected to the engine by the disconnect clutch. A controller receives an engine torque output signal and reduces the torque output of the engine to the clutch capacity limit value. A system and a method are also provided for controlling a powertrain for a hybrid vehicle.
Abstract:
A hybrid system and method is configured to achieve and maintain a touch point for a clutch so as to allow an engine to rapidly restart. The hybrid system includes an eMachine configured to start the engine. The clutch is configured to operatively connect and disconnect the eMachine and the engine. A motor torque PID controller is configured to operate the eMachine at a desired speed by regulating torque of the eMachine. A clutch pressure PID controller is configured to actuate the clutch to a touch point by regulating clutch pressure. The motor torque PID controller and the clutch pressure PID controller include a compensation function to account for a change in torque caused by actuation of the clutch by the clutch pressure PID controller.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a method and system for controlling a hybrid vehicle that can run a hybrid vehicle while preventing an engine stall when an engine clutch which controls power transmission between an engine and a motor is in a stuck-breakdown condition. The method of controlling a hybrid vehicle, which includes an engine clutch controlling power transmission between an engine and a motor, and a transmission clutch connecting the motor and an input shaft of a transmission, includes: determining whether the engine clutch is in a stuck-breakdown condition, and controlling the engine and the transmission clutch to maintain speed of the engine above a predetermined target idle RPM according to demand torque of the hybrid vehicle when the engine clutch is in a stuck-breakdown condition.
Abstract:
A system and method for regulating torque transmitted via a torque converter can include providing a lock up clutch between a crankshaft and transmission of a vehicle. A position sensor can output data indicative of at least one of an engaged position of the lock-up clutch, a transitional position of the lock-up clutch, and a disengaged position of the lock-up clutch. An engine speed sensor can output data indicative of rotational speed of the crankshaft. A controller can be placed in electrical communication with the engine speed sensor and the position sensor and configured to determine when actuation of the lock-up clutch is desired. The controller can be configured to determine a torque reduction target based on certain variables, for example, engine acceleration. The controller can then signal the engine to output torque substantially equal to the torque reduction target when conditions exist that warrant torque reduction.

A method for controlling a vehicle powertrain that includes a first power path including a first electric machine driveably connected to a first wheel set and a second power path including a second electric machine driveably connected to a second wheel set, including determining a desired wheel torque required to hold the vehicle stationary on an inclined surface, determining a temperature of the first machine and a first reference temperature, determining a torque capacity of the first power path, and using the first power path to produce the desired wheel torque, if the temperature of the first electric machine is less than the first reference temperature and the torque capacity of the first power path is greater than the desired wheel torque.
Abstract:
A method controls an overrun operation in a motor vehicle, wherein, in the presence of predetermined switch-off conditions, an overrun switch-off of the internal-combustion engine takes place by interrupting the fuel feed, and wherein, when a predetermined restoring speed is reached or fallen below, the fuel feed is resumed. Starting from an operating state with an activated overrun switch-off, the transmission line between the output of the engine and the input of the transmission device is monitored as to whether a torque difference is occurring which is greater than or equal to a predetermined limit torque. In such a case, the internal-combustion engine is driven by an electric machine coupled with the crankshaft of the internal-combustion engine such that a rotational speed of the internal-combustion engine is adjusted to be greater than or equal to the restoring speed.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for carrying out a gearshift in a twin-clutch transmission, which is characterized in that a downshift is carried out subject to the kind of shift and/or of at least one predetermined vehicle parameter. The invention also relates to a twin-clutch transmission, especially for carrying out the inventive method.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for adapting the clutch characteristics in a twin-clutch system (PSG) which comprises in a first train a first clutch (A) and a first partial transmission (iA) mounted downstream thereof, and in a second train a second clutch (B) and a partial transmission (iB) mounted downstream thereof. The first and the second train can be linked on the input side with a driving engine (M) and on the output side with the wheels of a vehicle. The first clutch (A) is actuated by a first clutch actuating mechanism (KA) and the second clutch (B) is actuated by a second clutch actuating mechanism (KB). A zero adjustment of the hodometry of the first and/or second clutch actuating mechanism (KA; KB) is carried out according to a predetermined strategy subject to predetermined criteria.
