Abstract:
A tubular support member located in a distal portion of an elongate flexible medical device is provided with a plurality of wall openings, e.g., axially-spaced, substantially transverse slots, formed therein to thereby increase a flexibility of the support member. A layer of sealing material overlays an outer surface the support member so as to provide a sealed portion of the support member including the wall openings, the sealing material having respective flexible invaginations formed therein overlaying the wall openings in the support member so that the sealing material does not substantially impede flexibility of the support member.
Abstract:
A resin composition and method for installing a pipe liner that allows the liner to be fully wet out with a resin and activator and stored for a period of up to six months prior to installation and curing. A method of lining a pipe with a delayed curing resin composition is also provided that includes fully wetting out a liner with a blended two part epoxy composition such that the liner can be transported in a wet out fashion, placed in a pipe to be lined and repositioned as needed without concern for the resin composition to begin curing.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a process for producing a security film, comprising: forming a polymeric film substrate having first and second surfaces and comprising one or more migratory additives; plasma treating at least a part of at least one surface of the polymeric film substrate; and promptly contacting a foil with the at least one part of the plasma treated surface of the polymeric film substrate such that the foil adheres to the polymeric film substrate.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing paint roller covers is disclosed in which the paint roller covers are manufactured from a seamless segment of tubular paint roller cover fabric that is placed onto a cylindrical forming tube having a segment of bonding material temporarily secured on its outer surface under the segment of tubular paint roller cover fabric. The cylindrical forming tube is placed on a heated mandrel to apply heat thereto to cause the bonding material to bond to the interior of the segment of tubular paint roller cover fabric. The cylindrical forming tube is removed from the mandrel and cooled, and the segment of tubular paint roller cover fabric becomes secured to the bonding material to produce a semi-rigid paint roller cover segment. The semi-rigid paint roller cover segment may be finished into paint roller covers.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of finishing a wood surface for exterior exposure of the wood using a finishing film material in the form of a sheet. The finishing film comprises a flexible polymeric sheet material having a first major surface and a second major surface and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer covering at least a portion of the first major surface of the sheet material. The finishing film is adhered to the surface to the wood surface by the adhesive layer. The method of the present invention is particularly suitable for the finishing of brightwork on boats, for example, teak or mahogany brightwork. The method of the present invention is particularly suitable for finishing curved and/or compound curved surfaces due to the flexibility and elongation of the finishing film.
Abstract:
A display and method for bowling centers and the like includes at least one bowling lane having a base member with an approach area, pin deck area and lane area extending therebetween. A generally transparent synthetic sheet member is positioned over at least a portion the base member, and has a leading edge attached to the base member to retain the sheet member in an overlying relationship with the base member, leaving at least a portion of the sheet member unattached to define an insert area. At least one display card with in a generally thin profile is inserted between the sheet member and the base member at the insert area, such that the indicia are visible through and protected by the sheet, with the weight of the sheet member retaining the display card in place to facilitate easy insertion and removal of the display card to provide varied displays.
Abstract:
An improved method for adhering a solid polymer component to a substrate is provided. An intermediate polymer adhesion promoting coating of metal oxide is applied to the substrate which enhances the adhesion of the subsequently applied solid polymer component to the substrate.
Abstract:
A glow-in-the-dark bowling game includes an enclosure with ambient lighting normally illuminating the same, and at least one bowling lane. A UV sensitive dye or pigment is incorporated into at least a portion of the upper surface of the bowling lane. A UV light source is positioned generally above the bowling lane, and is selectively operable for directing UV light onto the upper surface of the bowling lane. To play the glow-in-the-dark bowling game, the ambient lighting is dimmed or turned off, and the UV light source is turned on, causing the UV sensitive dye or pigment to emit visible light.
Abstract:
Process of applying a self-adhesive film to a surface of an automobile or other vehicle. Later removal of the film is facilitated by first applying a parting layer to the surface, except for surface regions being covered by the perimeter and certain other areas of the self-adhesive film.
Abstract:
A method consists in introducing a flexible sleeve (4) into a pipeline (2), advancing the sleeve through the pipeline (2) and urging it against the internal surface of the pipeline (2) by building up excessive pressure in the space defined by the pipeline (2) and the sleeve (4), the latter having its end turned inside out and secured to the internal surface of the pipeline (2). To join the sleeve (4) to the pipeline (2) and provide a protective coating on the internal surface of the pipeline (2), the latter is heated from inside. An apparatus for performing the method includes a system (1) for supplying a working fluid into the pipeline (2), a system for introducing a flexible sleeve (4) into the pipeline (2), means for heating the pipeline (2) and a system for timing the motion of the sleeve (4) and of the heating means. In the preferred embodiment of the invention the heating means includes an induction heater (18) arranged for longitudinal motion inside the pipeline (2) in front of the advancing sleeve (4) and electrically connected with a source (7) of electric current.
