    摘要: A dispensing unit for an adhesive or other viscous liquid includes one or more dispensing nozzles for delivery of the adhesive to a desired surface. The dispensing nozzles each include one or more dispensing ports that are in fluid communication with a nozzle body recess defined through a nozzle body of the dispensing nozzle. Adhesive that is supplied to the nozzle body recess may be thrown laterally from the dispensing nozzle via the dispensing ports. Each of the dispensing ports may be positioned between a pair of projections. The projections protect the dispensing port from breaking due to contact with the surface on which the adhesive is applied or contact with another exterior object.

    摘要: A method for depositing thin films using a nominally curved substrate. Drops of a pre-cursor liquid organic material are dispensed at a plurality of locations on a nominally curved substrate by one or more inkjets. A superstrate is brought down on the dispensed drops to close the gap between the superstrate and the substrate thereby allowing the drops to form a contiguous film captured between the substrate and the superstrate. A non-equilibrium transient state of the superstrate, the contiguous film and the substrate is enabled to occur after a duration of time. The contiguous film is then cured to solidify it into a solid. The solid is separated from the superstrate thereby leaving a polymer film on the substrate. In this manner, such a technique for film deposition has the film thickness range, resolution and variation required to be applicable for a broad spectrum of applications.

    摘要: An outer periphery coating method of honeycomb structure has coating steps where the honeycomb structure including a ring-like bulge portion is rotated; a coating member is brought into contact with a side surface of the honeycomb structure by pressing a side edge portion of a spatula via a rubber sheet, the coating member including the plate-like spatula in which a specific cut portion is formed in the one side edge portion and the side edge portion provided with the cut portion is an inclined surface inclined on a coating surface side, and the rubber sheet in which a cut is formed so that an end surface of the end portion is parallel to a back surface of the spatula when the end portion is bent along the side edge portion of the spatula; and a slurry coating material is supplied to the side surface of the honeycomb structure.

    摘要: An adhering amount detecting process includes: lowering the nozzle to a trial application position; performing a trial application to apply the viscous material to a trial application surface disposed on an application stage; and detecting an amount of the viscous material adhering to the nozzle. Then, whether a difference between maximum and minimum values of the amounts of the viscous material adhering to the nozzle detected by performing the adhering amount detecting process a plurality of times exceeds a threshold is determined. If the difference is determined as not exceeding the threshold, the lowered position of the nozzle with respect to the application target is set such that a gap between the nozzle at the lowered position and an application surface of an application target coincides with a gap between the nozzle at the trial application position and the trial application surface.
