    摘要: An internal pipe coating apparatus for coating the interior surfaces of uncoated weld joints in an otherwise internally coated pipeline comprising a frame movable longitudinally along the interior of the pipeline, the frame having a shaft at its forward end and disposed generally along the longitudinal center line of the pipeline, a coating assembly comprising a pair of horizontally spaced arms mounted for rotation on the shaft and extending radially outward on opposite sides thereof, a pair of spaced parallel links having their inner ends pivotally connected to the outer ends of the arms and having their outer ends pivotally connected to a pair of triangularly shaped mounting plates, each mounting plate being in the shape of an obtuse isosceles triangle having a single obtuse angle and a pair of smaller acute angles, each mounting plate being pivotally connected to its associated link at the apex of the obtuse angle, a wheel mounted on each mounting plate at the location of each acute angle thereof, a hollow powder applicator head mounted on each mounting plate and having a dispensing opening oriented in a direction away from the shaft and parallel to the longitudinal axis of the pipeline, a hose for supplying an air powder mixture to each powder applicator head, a piston-cylinder unit operatively connected to each pair of links intermediate the ends thereof and operatively connected to the pair of arms adjacent the shaft, a conduit for introducing fluid under pressure into each piston-cylinder unit to extend the same so as to pivot the links outwardly away from the shaft until the wheels contact the inner surface of the pipeline and the dispensing opening of each applicator head is positioned adjacent the weld joint.

    摘要: A method for coating an inner surface of a metal tube comprises supplying a hot-melt resin powdery paint floating in air together with an air stream into the metal tube which has been pre-heated and rotating around it's horizontal center axis. An apparatus used for the method comprises a rotating means for supporting and rotating the metal tube, fluidizing bed tank for floating the powdery paint in air, a paint supply pipe, an air pipe and a Y-shaped mixing pipe through which the powdery paint is supplied to the inside of the metal tube in the form of a jet. The inner surface of the metal tube can be coated uniformly in a very short period of time.

    摘要: A method of powder coating the inside of tubular goods, such as oilfield pipe and the like, by connecting one end of the pipe to a means for producing a flow of compressible gases therethrough. The other end of the pipe is open to atmospheric pressure. A valve means is connected for controlling the flow of air through the container which holds a single charge of plastic powder. The charge of powdered plastic is isolated upstream of the pipe inlet. The charge is of sufficient size to coat the entire inside peripheral wall surface of the pipe with a substantial uniform coating of plastic. The pipe is heated above the softening temperature of the plastic and axially rotated, so that when the valve is opened, air flows through the container, into the pipe, and establishes a pressure gradient across the entire length of the pipe. This action causes the captured charge of plastic to form a pocket of dispersed plastic particles which is forced to flow through the pipe by the air flow. The plastic particles are deposited and fused to the hot rotating inner surface of the pipe.

    摘要: The difficulty of applying uniform plastic coatings to the interior of pipe and other tubular goods increases in proportion to the diameter and length of the pipe. Epoxy is one of the most satisfactory plastic coatings for use on oilfield pipe. An epoxy coating preferably is applied on powdered form to the heated, rotating pipe interior, where the plastic is fused into a continuous film and thereafter the pipe is cooled as the film solidifies to provide a superior coating which protects the metal pipe surface from chemically reacting with the material flowing therethrough, thereby elongating the life of the pipe.
