Abstract: A fabrication method for a water-absorbent filter includes obtaining a homogenized tragacanth suspension by dissolving tragacanth in a solvent, where the solvent may include distilled water, ethyl acetate, acetic acid, and formic acid, obtaining a support layer by coating a stainless steel mesh with a thin layer of a hydrophobic polymer, coating a stainless steel mesh with the thin layer of the hydrophobic polymer comprising electrospinning a hydrophobic polymer solution onto the stainless steel mesh, forming a tragacanth nanofibrous web on the support layer by electrospinning the homogenized tragacanth suspension onto the support layer, and cross-linking the tragacanth nanofibrous web by exposing the tragacanth nanofibrous web to a saturated vapor of a cross-linking agent.

Abstract: A multi-layered replaceable filter assembly (100) and a microfilter assembly (200) for providing safety from external exposure. The multi-layered micro filter assembly includes plurality of filter membranes. A first filter membrane (104) prevents particles greater than 10 micron from entering the multi-layered replaceable filter assembly (100). A second filter membrane (106) has embedded activated carbon that destroys micro-organisms including viruses and bacteria. As we go further downstream, the fiber density per cm keeps increasing with the filter membranes. A fifth filter membrane (112) made up of a combination of crabyon fiber and electro-spun nano fibers provides comfort and anti-allergic effect. A sixth filter membrane (114) lowers the velocity of air that occurs from breathing and a method thereof.

Abstract: The present invention provides a filtering material for filtering water having high collection efficiency and long filtering life, and a water filtering apparatus including the material. The present filtering material includes a laminated sheet in which a nanofiber layer formed from a nanofiber having a single fiber average diameter of 10 to 1000 nm and meeting all the following conditions and a base material including a nonwoven or woven fabric containing a hydrophilic fiber having a single fiber average diameter of not less than 1 μm. Further, the present water filtering apparatus is configured by including the filtering material for filtering water. (1) The nanofiber layer has a basis weight of 0.1 to 10 g/m2. (2) The nanofiber is a continuous long fiber. (3) The nanofiber contains at least an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer.

Abstract: A method for removing retroviruses from liquid samples and a nanofiber containing liquid filtration medium that simultaneously exhibits high liquid permeability and high microorganism retention is disclosed. Retroviruses are removed from a liquid by passing the liquid through a porous nanofiber containing filtration medium having a retrovirus LRV greater than about 6, and the nanofiber(s) has a diameter from about 10 nm to about 100 nm. The filtration medium can be in the form of a fibrous electrospun polymeric nanofiber liquid filtration medium mat.

Abstract: In accordance with certain embodiments of the present disclosure, a process of forming a prosthetic device is provided. The process includes forming a dispersion of polymeric nanofibers, a fiberizing polymer, and a solvent, the dispersion having a viscosity of at least about 50,000 cPs. A tubular frame is positioned over a tubular polymeric structure. Nanofibers from the dispersion are electrospun onto the tubular frame to form a prosthetic device. The prosthetic device is heated.
