摘要: Devices and methods for providing access to the pericardial cavity while reducing risk of myocardial damage including advancing a puncture device towards a heart, the puncture device including an energy delivery device at a distal end of the puncture device; delivering a single pulse of a pulsed energy through the energy delivery device to a parietal pericardium of the heart to create a void relatively close to the energy delivery device while maintaining the distal end of the puncture device in a substantially stationary position relative to the parietal pericardium; advancing the puncture device a short distance into the void; checking if the puncture device has accessed the pericardial cavity by measuring pressure on the distal end of the puncture device; and repeating, if necessary, until the energy delivery device is located at least partially within the pericardial cavity.

摘要: A surgical instrument comprising a jaw assembly is disclosed. The surgical instrument further comprises a motor-driven drive system configured to manipulate the jaw assembly. The surgical instrument also comprises a control system configured to control the drive system and, also, control a power supply system configured to supply electrical power to electrodes defined in the jaw assembly. In use, the surgical instrument can be used to apply mechanical energy and electrical energy to the tissue of a patient at the same time, or at different times. In certain embodiments, the user controls when the mechanical and electrical energies are applied. In some embodiments, the control system controls when the mechanical and electrical energies are applied.

The electrosurgical substrate includes an electrosurgical blade. The electrosurgical blade includes (i) a first lateral surface, (ii) a second lateral surface opposite the first lateral surface, (iii) a first major surface extending between the first lateral surface and the second lateral surface on a first side of the electrosurgical blade, and (iv) a second major surface extending between the first lateral surface and the second lateral surface on a second side of the electrosurgical blade that is opposite the first side. The monopolar electrosurgical electrode also includes a first electrode sensor embedded between a plurality of electrical insulation layers on the first major surface of the electrosurgical blade.

摘要: A steerable, or curveable, introducer drill to access a target treatment region within bone along a curved trajectory is disclosed. The drill may include a drive shaft including a proximal rotational member, a distal drill tip, and an elongate shaft portion extending from the proximal rotational member to the distal drill tip. The distal drill tip may be sharp and include cutting flutes. The drill may also include an outer tube surrounding the drive shaft. A distal end portion of the outer tube may include a segmented tube section configured to facilitate controlled bending of the segmented tube section of the outer tube. The drill may also include an actuator operably coupled to the drive shaft and adapted to apply tension to the drive shaft which, in turn, causes the segmented tube section of the outer tube to bend.
