摘要: Method and apparatus are disclosed for esophageal heat transfer devices and methods for cardiac tissue ablation procedures. An exemplary method includes collecting esophageal data via one or more sensing elements of an esophageal heat transfer device positioned within an esophagus of the patient. The exemplary method includes determining, based on the esophageal data and/or operator selected power setting, a temperature setting and/or a flow rate setting for fluid flowing through the esophageal heat transfer device to maintain a target temperature of esophageal tissue adjacent to the ablation site via a heat transfer region. The exemplary method includes adjusting, via the controller, a fluid source to provide the fluid to the esophageal heat transfer device at the temperature setting and/or a flow rate setting.

摘要: A cryoprotectant for use with a treatment device for improved removal of heat from subcutaneous lipid-rich cells of a subject having skin is provided. The cryoprotectant is a non-freezing liquid, gel, or paste for allowing pre-cooling of the treatment device below 0° C. while preventing the formation of ice thereon. The cryoprotectant may also prevent freezing of the treatment device to the skin or ice from forming from moisture seeping out from the skin. The cryoprotectant may further be hygroscopic, thermally conductive, and biocompatible.

摘要: Ablation systems of the present disclosure facilitate the safe formation of wide and deep lesions. For example, ablation systems of the present disclosure can allow for the flow of irrigation fluid and blood through an expandable ablation electrode, resulting in efficient and effective cooling of the ablation electrode as the ablation electrode delivers energy at a treatment site of the patient. Additionally, or alternatively, ablation systems of the present disclosure can include a deformable ablation electrode and a plurality of sensors that, in cooperation, sense the deformation of the ablation electrode, to provide a robust indication of the extent and direction of contact between the ablation electrode and tissue at a treatment site.

摘要: A computer-implemented method for controlling delivery of electrosurgical energy to a vessel to seal the vessel, includes collecting data from an electrosurgical system including an instrument and energy source while the instrument is delivering electrosurgical energy from the energy source to a vessel, predicting by using a machine learning algorithm a burst pressure probability of the vessel based on the data, and determining if the vessel is adequately sealed based on the prediction. The data includes an electrical parameter associated with the delivery of the electrosurgical energy. In a case where it is determined that the vessel is not adequately sealed: determining an output by a second machine learning algorithm, communicating the determined output to a computing device associated with the energy source for use in formulating an energy-delivery algorithm, and delivering, using the instrument, additional electrosurgical from the energy source to the vessel to seal the vessel according to the energy-delivery algorithm.

摘要: Surgical systems include an ultrasonic device, a generator coupled to the ultrasonic device, and a return pad. The generator is configured to control supply of the ultrasonic energy to the ultrasonic device and control supply of an energy pulse to the ultrasonic device at different times. The ultrasonic device generates a current pulse signal in response to the energy pulse. The generator also measures a current feedback signal at the return pad, the current feedback signal resulting from the current pulse signal, and estimate a tissue property of tissue grasped by the ultrasonic device based on the current feedback signal.
