摘要: Systems and methods for enhancing surgical outcomes by providing generators having optimal RF output for sealing, fusing and/or cutting tissue or vessels under all dynamic conditions are described. Examples of dynamic conditions may include varying tissue impedance load due to electrosurgical operations or tissue affects, any operational conditions and commands determined by the surgeon, surgical procedure and/or device script. This is achieved by implementing a digital closed-loop control system within the electrosurgical generator to regulate voltage, current, and power of the RF output. The digital closed-loop control system may include an RF amplifier for generating RF energy, a feedback system for constantly monitoring the electrical characteristics, e.g., voltage, current, and power, of the supplied RF energy to a connectable electrosurgical instrument and a microcontroller for processing measurement data from the feedback system and adjusting the output of the RF amplifier to meet a desired regulation target under any varying conditions.

摘要: An electrosurgical system includes a radiofrequency (RF) generator having a controller configured to detect an occurrence of a vaporization point of target tissue and a vaporization duration between commencement of delivery of the RF energy and the occurrence of the vaporization point. The controller can apply the vaporization duration to adjust a parameter during subsequent electrode activation, such as RF power level, an electrode activation sequence, a distance between activated electrodes, and a number of activated electrodes. The controller can apply the vaporization duration to determine if whether a predetermined depth of effect has been reached for use in subsequent parameter adjustments.

摘要: Devices and methods can be used to deliver thermal therapy to treat tissue. For example, this document provides devices and methods for treating varices, varicosity, other bleeding vessels, polyps, and cancer using microwave-delivered thermal therapy in a minimally invasive fashion. In some embodiment's provided herein, a multidirectional thermal therapy that does not injure surface tissues but causes endothelial injury and coagulation is described. In some implementations, varices are suctioned into a cup that is configured to deliver thermal therapy to the varices, resulting in coagulation.

摘要: A system for minimizing neuromuscular stimulation includes a converter, an inverter, and a controller. The converter is configured to output a dc waveform and includes at least one first switching element operated at a first duty cycle. The inverter is coupled to the converter and includes at least one second switching element operated at a second duty cycle. The inverter is configured to invert the DC waveform to generate an electrosurgical pulse waveform. The controller is coupled to the converter and the inverter, and is configured to control the first duty cycle to adjust a magnitude of the electrosurgical pulse waveform and the second duty cycle to adjust at least one property of the electrosurgical pulse waveform to minimize neuromuscular stimulation.

摘要: Ablation systems of the present disclosure facilitate the safe formation of wide and deep lesions. For example, ablation systems of the present disclosure can allow for the flow of irrigation fluid and blood through an expandable ablation electrode, resulting in efficient and effective cooling of the ablation electrode as the ablation electrode delivers energy at a treatment site of the patient. Additionally, or alternatively, ablation systems of the present disclosure can include a deformable ablation electrode and a plurality of sensors that, in cooperation, sense the deformation of the ablation electrode, to provide a robust indication of the extent and direction of contact between the ablation electrode and tissue at a treatment site.

摘要: Ablation systems and methods of the present disclosure control lesion depth and width such that, for example, wide and shallow lesions can be formed in target tissue in an anatomic structure of a patient during a medical procedure. Such wide and shallow lesions can be useful for treating, for example, thin tissue such as atrial tissue in atria of the heart of the patient.

摘要: A high frequency electrosurgical power generator configured to produce electrical power at a frequency of about 1 to about 14 MHz and preferably having an essentially sinusoidal waveform with a voltage level up to 1,000 Vrms, and a current level up to 5 Amps. The output of the high frequency electrosurgical power generator is connected to an electrosurgical tool configured to receive the voltage and current produced by the electrosurgical power generator and deliver the voltage and current to an electrosurgical site. The output of the electrosurgical generator preferably is an essentially sinusoid waveform with a frequency between about 3 MHz and about 8 MHz, up to about 700 volts rms, up to about 2 amps, with a total power of up to 1,000 watts.

摘要: A method for treating pelvic pain and or chronic prostatitis, and or overactive bladder symptoms. Energy, preferably in the form of infrared or near infrared wavelength light may be applied across the vaginal tissue or rectal tissue to treat pelvic pain and or chronic prostatitis. This method of energy application may cause local heating, alteration of cellular respiration, and alterations of local blood flow resulting in decreased muscle spasm, and or decreased pain, and or decreased overactive bladder symptoms. The method of the present invention may effectively treat chronic pelvic pain and or the symptoms of chronic prostatitis. The method of the invention may combine massaging of tissue with irradiation of same.
