Abstract: A method includes applying a coupling agent solution to a major surface of a continuously moving glass ribbon to form a coupling agent coated region of the glass ribbon. The glass ribbon is a flexible glass ribbon having a thickness of at most about 300 μm. The method includes heating the coupling agent coated region of the glass ribbon to form a coupling agent treated region of the glass ribbon and winding the glass ribbon onto a collection roll. A glass ribbon has a thickness of at most about 300 μm and a major surface. At least a portion of the major surface includes a coupling agent treated region. Upon forming a polymeric layer on the coupling agent treated region at least five months after forming the coupling agent treated region, the polymeric layer has a peel force of at least 200 gf/in.

Abstract: A laminated glass structure comprising a non-glass substrate and a glass sheet bonded to the non-glass substrate to form the laminated glass structure, wherein the laminated glass structure withstands a ball drop test wherein a 535 g stainless steel ball is dropped from a height of 0.8 m onto the laminated glass structure, with the glass sheet being impacted by the ball. The glass sheet has a thickness such that the glass sheet exhibits, without cracking, deformation to adapt to any shape change of the non-glass substrate as imparted by the ball of the ball drop test.

The glass roll includes a winding core having a central axis, a self adhesive film wound on the winding core about the central axis, and a glass ribbon wound on the self adhesive film about the central axis and attached onto the self adhesive film. In a cross-section of the glass roll that is parallel to the central axis and along an entire length of the glass roll, cross-sections of the self adhesive film may alternate with cross-sections of the glass ribbon.

Abstract: A method of forming a laminated glass structure includes introducing a continuous ribbon of flexible glass substrate having a thickness of no greater than about 0.3 mm to a substrate material. The substrate material has a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) that is greater than that of the flexible glass substrate. The flexible glass substrate is laminated to the substrate material at an elevated temperature. The substrate material is cooled to introduce a compressive stress across a thickness of the flexible glass substrate.

Abstract: Example systems described herein are configured to manage a continuous scrim-glass web slit from a side of a continuous glass web. For instance, a system may include a first roller, a nipping roller, and a breaker. The first roller is configured to support the continuous scrim-glass web. The nipping roller is configured to isolate vibration originating from the continuous scrim-glass web by applying pressure onto the continuous scrim-glass web that is threaded between the nipping roller and the first roller. The breaker is configured to intermittently break portions of the continuous scrim-glass web from the continuous scrim-glass web while the continuous scrim-glass web traverses between the nipping roller and the first roller by applying a force to the continuous scrim-glass web.
