Abstract: A laminate glass article is provided that includes: a core glass layer comprising a first coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE); and a plurality of clad glass layers, each comprising a first primary surface, a second primary surface in contact with the core glass layer and a second CTE that is lower than the first CTE of the core glass layer. The difference in the first and second CTE is about 10×10−7/#C to about 70×10−7/#C. Further, each of the core glass layer and the clad glass layers comprises a viscosity from 109.0 to 1014.0 Poise from about 550 #C to about 700 #C.

Abstract: A glass composition includes greater than or equal to 45 mol % to less than or equal to 60 mol % SiO2; greater than or equal to 15 mol % to less than or equal to 25 mol % Al2O3; greater than or equal to 10 mol % to less than or equal to 20 mol % Li2O; greater than or equal to 0 mol % to less than or equal to 7.5 mol % Na2O; greater than or equal to 0 mol % to less than or equal to 5 mol % K2O; greater than or equal to 7 mol % to less than or equal to 13 mol % P2O5, and greater than or equal to 0 mol % to less than or equal to 4 mol % TiO2. The glass composition may have a liquidus temperature of less than or equal to 1300° C. and an inter-diffusion coefficient greater than or equal to 4000 μm2/hour. The glass composition is chemically strengthenable. The glass composition may be used in a glass-based article or a consumer electronic product.

Abstract: A glass-based article including a first surface and a second surface opposing the first surface defining a thickness (t) of about 3 millimeters or less (e.g., about 1 millimeter or less), and a stress profile, wherein all points of the stress profile between a thickness range from about 0·t up to 0.3·t and from greater than about 0.7·t to t, comprise a tangent with a slope having an absolute value greater than about 0.1 MPa/micrometer. In some embodiments, the glass-based article includes a non-zero metal oxide concentration that varies along at least a portion of the thickness (e.g., 0·t to about 0.3·t) and a maximum central tension of less than about 71.5/√(t) (MPa). In some embodiments, the concentration of metal oxide or alkali metal oxide decreases from the first surface to a point between the first surface and the second surface and increases from the point to the second surface. The concentration of the metal oxide may be about 0.05 mol % or greater or about 0.5 mol % or greater throughout the thickness. Methods for forming such glass-based articles are also disclosed.

Abstract: Embodiments of alkali aluminosilicate glass articles that may be chemically strengthened to achieve a maximum surface compressive stress that exceeds compressive stresses that have been achieved in similar glasses are disclosed. In one or more embodiments, the fictive temperature of these glass articles may be equal to the 1011 poise (P) viscosity temperature of the glass article. In some embodiments, the strengthened alkali aluminosilicate glass articles described herein may exhibit a maximum compressive stress of at least about 400 MPa, 800 MPa, 930 MPa or 1050 MPa. In some embodiments, the strengthened alkali aluminosilicate glass articles described herein may exhibit a compressive stress layer extending to a depth of layer of at least about 40 μm (in samples having a thickness of 1 mm). In still other embodiments, these strengthened alkali aluminosilicate glass articles exhibit a parabolic or near-parabolic tensile stress profile in the central region of the glass articles.
