    摘要: An outboard motor includes a gear housing configured to rotatably house a propeller shaft that transmits a rotative power output from an engine to a propeller device. The gear housing includes a torpedo shape portion and a strut portion. The torpedo shape portion has a shape tapered toward a front side, and a shape biased upward toward the front side. The strut portion is disposed on an upper side of the torpedo shape portion. An outer peripheral surface of the torpedo shape portion is smoothly coupled to an outer peripheral surface of the strut portion via first to third curved surfaces. The first to third curved surfaces are each a curved surface inclined rearward and downward, a curved surface parallel to a front-rear direction, or a curved surface constituted of a part inclined rearward and downward and a part parallel to the front-rear direction.

    摘要: An outboard motor includes a drive shaft that transmits rotational power from an engine, a shift unit provided in the middle of the drive shaft, and a water pump that feeds a coolant to the engine. The drive shaft has a first input shaft that receives rotational power transmitted from the engine and a second input shaft that receives rotational power transmitted from the first input shaft. The shift unit has an upper gear rotating in synchronization with the first input shaft, an intermediate gear meshing with the upper gear at all times, and an intermediate shaft extending to the rear side from the intermediate gear and rotating in synchronization. The oil pump as an accessory is operated by the rotational power transmitted to the intermediate shaft.

    摘要: An outboard marine engine comprises an anti-ventilation plate; a torpedo housing that is disposed below the anti-ventilation plate; and a gearcase strut that extends from the anti-ventilation plate to the torpedo housing. The gearcase strut has a leading end, a trailing end, and opposing outer surfaces that extend from the leading end to the trailing end. A flow separator is on each outer surface. The flow separator is located closer to the trailing end than the leading end and causes flow of water across the gearcase strut to separate from the outer surface.

    摘要: A vessel propulsion apparatus includes a water pump that is driven by an engine, and supplies water from an water inlet to the engine via a cooling water supply passage. The vessel propulsion apparatus includes an auxiliary cooling passage branching from the cooling water supply passage to extend to an oil pan. A water pressure control valve disposed at a branch position from the cooling water supply passage to the auxiliary cooling passage limits the flow rate of water flowing to the auxiliary cooling passage when a water pressure inside the cooling water supply passage is less than a set pressure. The water pressure control valve is configured to allow a portion of the water inside the cooling water supply passage to flow to the auxiliary cooling passage when the water pressure inside the cooling water supply passage is the set pressure or more to maintain the water pressure to be less than the set pressure while supplying water to the oil pan via the auxiliary cooling passage.
