    摘要: A method is provided for welding in an automated way a sphere onto a metal sheet. The method includes the following steps: providing a sphere; providing a first electrode; picking up the sphere by use of the first electrode; providing a metal sheet; providing a second electrode; pressing the metal sheet and sphere together such that the sphere is pressed against the metal sheet by the first electrode, and the metal sheet is pressed against the sphere by the second electrode; and welding the sphere and the metal sheet together by generating a welding current between the two electrodes.

    摘要: A muffler has a first flared part provided at an opening end portion of an upper half body of a muffler shell. A flange is provided at a tip of a peripheral wall extending substantially vertically and belonging to the first flared part. The flange is bent to project outwardly. A second flared part is provided at the opening end portion of the lower half body of the shell. A peripheral wall of the second flared part is press fitted inside the peripheral wall of the first flared part to fit into the peripheral wall so as to extend substantially along the peripheral wall. A part of the peripheral wall of the first flared part and a part of the peripheral wall of the second flared part that fit into each other are laser welded along their entire peripheries, thereby forming a welded part.

In a welding device (1) that emits a laser beam focusing on a working point (P), the laser beam has a profile similar to a profile of a superimposed laser beam at the working point. The superimposed laser beam is formed by superimposing a first laser beam and a second laser beam having a beam diameter smaller than that of the first laser beam. in the profile of the laser beam, a portion corresponding to the first laser beam has a power density allowing thermal-conduction type welding. In the profile of the laser beam, a portion corresponding to the second laser beam has a power density allowing keyhole type welding.

    摘要: When melting a glass layer 3 by irradiating a region to be fused R therealong with a laser beam L1, the region to be fused R is irradiated therealong with the laser beam L1 having a first heat input, so as to melt the glass layer 3, the heat input is switched when the melting ratio of the glass layer 3 in a direction substantially orthogonal to a moving direction of the laser beam L1 exceeds a predetermined level, and the region to be fused R is irradiated therealong with the laser beam L1 having a second heat input smaller than the first heat input, so as to fix the glass layer 3 to a glass member 4. This inhibits the glass layer 3 from falling into an excessive heat input state and thus deters the glass layer 3 from crystallizing during burning. The glass member 4 is fused to a glass member 5 through the glass layer 3 thus deterred from crystallizing, so as to yield a glass fusing structure 1.
