Abstract: The invention relates to a method for laser welding the end faces of the joints (5, 6) of two connecting flanges (3, 4), which are held in an adjoining manner, of two connecting partners (1, 2) made of a steel material. According to the method, in addition to being moved in the advancement direction, which follows the longitudinal extension of the joints (5, 6), the welding laser beam (8) is moved back and forth in an oscillating manner transversely to the advancement direction. At least one of the two connecting partners (1, 2) to be welded at the connecting flange (3, 4) joints (5, 6) is equipped with a metal coating at least in the region of the respective connecting flange (3, 4). The weld pool produced by the energy input during the laser welding process is kept in a liquid state in order to allow degassing processes and/or distribution processes to be carried out in a controlled manner for phases of the metal coating of the at least one connecting partner, said metal coating being integrated by the welding process, wherein the welding laser beam is oscillated at a frequency of at least 80 Hz.

Abstract: Methods for joining a first blank and a second blank, at least one of the first and second blanks comprising at least a layer of aluminum or of an aluminum alloy or a layer of zinc or of a zinc alloy. The method comprises selecting a first portion of the first blank to be joined to the second blank, and selecting a second portion of the second blank to be joined to the first portion, and welding the first portion to the second portion. The welding comprises using a filler metal laser beam and a welding laser beam, and displacing both laser beams in a welding direction to melt and mix a filler wire material with the melted portions of the two blanks. The present disclosure further relates to blanks obtained by any of these methods and to products obtained from such blanks.

Abstract: A laser welding device that laser-welds a lid to an open portion of a casing emits a laser beam to a joining subject portion including an inner side surface of the casing that defines the open portion and a peripheral surface of the lid that faces the inner side surface of the casing. The inner side surface of the casing and the peripheral surface of the lid are arranged to form a groove in between, and include inclined surfaces that function as a sliding portion. The groove portion has a groove width that is variable by sliding the sliding portion. A detection unit detects the groove width of the groove portion. An adjustment force application unit applies force for adjusting the groove width to the casing. A control unit controls the force applied by the adjustment force application unit in accordance with the groove width detected by the detection unit.
