    摘要: Provided is an ambient temperature NOx adsorbent. The ambient temperature NOx adsorbent comprises a support and a metal supported on the support. The support comprises at least one metal oxide selected from oxides of Co, Fe, Cu, Ce, Mn, and a combination thereof. The supported metal comprises at least one metal selected from Cu, Co, Ag, Pd, and a combination thereof. The metal oxide is easily changed the oxidation number and has oxygen absorptive/emissive properties. The supported metal has an oxidative activity and is highly adsorptive to NO. Oxygen supplied from the metal oxide converts the supported metal to a peroxidized form of the supported metal. Hence, NO is readily adsorbed to the supported metal at ambient temperature around room temperature. The adsorbed NO is easily oxidized to NO2 by oxygen supplied from the metal oxide or the supported metal in a peroxidized state in the absence of oxygen in an ambient atmosphere. The NO2 is then efficiently adsorbed to the metal oxide. That is, the ambient temperature NOx adsorbent can adsorb a sufficient amount of NOx even at ambient temperature around room temperature.

    摘要: Metal sulfides having a micro-porous structure are disclosed for use as sorbents for removal of mercury from flue gas. Systems are disclosed for making and using micro-porous particulates at least partially composed of alkaline earth metal and transition metal sulfides as sorbents. Calcium sulfide micro-porous powders derived from the high temperature reduction of calcium sulfate and calcium sulfite are disclosed to be reactive substrates for a group of sorbents for adsorption of mercury from the myriad of coal combustion flue gases produced by the utilities industry, as well as from natural gas and gaseous and liquid hydrocarbons. Controlled addition of one or more of polyvalent metal ions, chloride ions, polysulfide ions, and sulfur to the micro-porous calcium sulfide substrate produces the sorbent. The sorbents are useful for cost-effectively adsorbing elemental mercury and oxidized mercury species such as mercuric chloride from flue gases, including those containing acid gases (e.g., SO.sub.2, NO and NO.sub.2, and HCI), over a wide range of temperatures.

    摘要: Sulfur resistant/tolerant adsorbents useful for separating olefins from paraffins in a cracked gas stream including hydrogen sulfide. The method comprises the steps of contacting the gaseous mixture with an adsorbent which preferentially adsorbs the alkene, at a selected temperature and pressure, thereby producing a non-adsorbed component and an alkene-rich adsorbed component; the adsorbent comprising a carrier having a surface area, the carrier having been impregnated with a silver compound by incipient wetness, the silver compound releasably retaining the alkene; and changing at least one of the pressure and temperature to thereby release the alkene-rich component from the adsorbent. The adsorbent substantially maintains its adsorbent capacity and preference for the alkene in the presence of the sulfur compound. Sulfur resistant/tolerant adsorbents useful for selectively separating dienes from a mixture, particularly one containing mono-olefins and hydrogen sulfide, are also disclosed.
