Abstract:
A pressure support system includes a pressure generator, a pressure sensor, a flow sensor, and a controller cooperating with the pressure sensor and the flow sensor to control operation of the pressure generator. The controller is structured to automatically identify a patient interface device in use with the pressure support system by detecting a change of exhaust flow of up to a predetermined amount across a predetermined pressure gradient of a pressure range of the pressure support system.

The injector is suitable for being connected to a container or a cartridge for fluid transfer, which contains a multiplicity of doses of a parenteral solution and has an additional data storage device fixedly connected thereto. The device for data transfer is suitable for reading out information from the additional data storage device on the container including at least one specification in respect to the identity of the product stored in the container or in the cartridge is stored in the container, a maximum dose per patient, and a maximum usage period after opening the container.
Abstract:
A medicament dispensing device capable of managing the effective use period of a medicament preparation-containing syringe by simply and accurately detecting a period of time after the start of use of the preparation. In a medicament dispensing device (1), when a medicament preparation-containing syringe (11) is replaced, a microprocessor (23) detects the time at which the replacement is performed as the time of the start of use of the preparation, and counts the elapsed time after the use of the preparation has started. Then, the microprocessor (23) notifies the result of the counting by a LCD (10), etc. to the user. Also, the microprocessor (23) detects that a syringe needle for dispensing the preparation has been mounted, and after detecting the mounting of the syringe needle, the microprocessor (23) counts the elapsed time after the start of use of the preparation. In a step S12, the microprocessor (23) checks whether or not the elapsed time counted by a timer (21) has exceeded a specified time. When an effective use period has expired, the microprocessor (23) issues a message in a step S17 that the effective period of a medicament has expired.
Abstract:
An automatic wireless pairing method includes causing a base unit to wirelessly communicate with a number of wireless peripheral devices and wirelessly receive a peripheral device data signal from each of the wireless peripheral devices, wherein the peripheral device data signal received from each of the wireless peripheral devices is based on one or more measurements made by a sensor of the wireless peripheral device, analyzing in the base unit each of the peripheral device data signals, selecting in the base unit one or more of the wireless peripheral devices based on the analyzing of the peripheral device data signals, and responsive to the selecting step, establishing or maintaining wireless communication according to the wireless communications protocol between the base unit and the selected one or more of the wireless peripheral devices and not the wireless peripheral devices other than the selected one or more of the wireless peripheral devices.
Abstract:
An RFID chip including various types of data is mounted on a liquid syringe. A chemical liquid injector obtains various types of data from the RFID chip to perform a predetermined operation in accordance with at least some of the various types of data. For, example, a variable pattern for liquid can be recorded on the RFID chip of the liquid syringe to allow the chemical liquid injector to inject the liquid in accordance with the predetermined variable pattern. Thus, a large amount of data can be easily input into the chemical liquid injector to perform the various operations.
Abstract:
A device for humidifying respiratory gases is provided. The device includes: an all-polymer humidification chamber; a heating element positioned independently and proximate to the humidification chamber; a base unit supporting the humidification chamber; a computer that sends adjustment instructions to a water filling valve coupled with the humidification chamber; a plurality of sensors determining light within the humidification chamber and coupled with the base unit; an airflow conduit coupled with the humidification chamber; a heater wire within the airflow conduit; and an insulation material with grooves thereon surrounding the heater wire. The adjustment instructions instruct the water filling valve to self-adjust to meet a predetermined water level objective. The airflow conduit delivers gas to the patient. The heater wire heats the gas being delivered. The grooves on the insulation wire wick water within the humidification chamber away to re-evaporation regions.
Abstract:
A nasal applicator for nasally administering medicinal active pharmaceutical substances and/or ingredients, in particular painkillers or analgetics, includes a dosage device for dosedly discharging the active pharmaceutical substance, dosage determining logic for determining the discharged amount of active pharmaceutical substance as well as a locking device for locking the dosage device, in particular when the determined amount of discharged active pharmaceutical substance reaches a predetermined level. The locking device for locking the discharge dosage device is controlled by an electronic control device with a patient data memory into which an individual patient's control data may be inputted via an input device for individually locking the dosage device for a specific patient.
