摘要: A patient interface for supplying a flow of breathable gas to the airways of a patient may comprise a heat and moisture exchanger (HME). The HME may be positioned in a flow path of the flow of breathable gas. The HME may absorb heat and moisture from gas exhaled by the patient and the incoming flow of breathable gas to be supplied to the patient's airways may be heated and moisturized by the heat and moisture held in the HME.

摘要: Methods and apparatus treat a respiratory disorder. For example, a pressure generator supplies a flow of air at positive pressure to a patient's airway through a patient interface. A sensor generates a signal representing respiratory flow rate of the patient. A controller controls the pressure generator to provide to the patient interface a ventilation therapy having a base pressure. The controller computes a measure of ventilation of the patient from the signal. The controller computes a measure of flow limitation from an inspiratory portion of the signal. The controller computes a ratio of the measure of ventilation and an expected normal ventilation. The controller adjusts a set point for the base pressure of the ventilation therapy based on the measure of flow limitation. The adjustment may further depend on a comparison between the ratio and a relative ventilation threshold that increases as the measure of flow limitation increases.

摘要: Self-actuating articles including, for example, self-actuating needles and/or self-actuating biopsy punches, are generally provided. Advantageously, the self-actuating articles described herein may be useful as a general platform for delivery of a wide variety of pharmaceutical drugs that are typically delivered via injection directly into tissue due to degradation in the GI tract. The self-actuating articles described herein may also be used to deliver sensors and/or take biopsies without the need for an endoscopy. In some embodiments, the article comprises a spring (e.g., a coil spring, a beam, a material having particular mechanical recovery characteristics). Those of ordinary skill in the art would understand that the term spring is not intended to be limited to coil springs, but generally encompass any reversibly compressive material and/or component which, after releasing an applied compressive force on the material/component, the material/component substantially returns to an uncompressed length of the material/component (e.g., the within 95% of the length of the material/component prior to compression).

摘要: A pump arrangement for powering a pump in providing a controlled volume of water to a drip nozzle in a drip-feed humidifier. The pump arrangement includes: a pump having a solenoid; a processing unit; and a power supply electrically connected to the solenoid via a switch which is controlled by the processing unit. The power supply is structured to supply power to the solenoid via the switch. The processing unit is programmed to modulate the power provided to the solenoid via the switch such that the power is supplied to the solenoid according to a mirror image power profile for each actuation of the solenoid for retracting the armature. The mirror image power profile includes: an initial portion which decreases at a third overall rate, an intermediate portion which decreases at a second overall rate different than the third overall rate, and a final portion which increases at a first overall rate.

摘要: Provided are methods for improving resuspendability of a paliperidone palmitate extended-release injectable suspension within a syringe, for reducing a force required for injection of a paliperidone palmitate extended-release injectable suspension, or for reducing the likelihood of incomplete injection of a paliperidone palmitate extended-release injectable suspension comprising maintaining the syringe in a desired orientation during shipping of the syringe that varies from the orientation of the syringe during pre-shipping storage. Also provided are populations of syringes that respectively contain paliperidone palmitate extended release injectable suspension, wherein each of the syringes have been shipped to a destination, and the syringes were each maintained in a desired orientation during shipping of the syringe that varies from the orientation of the syringe during pre-shipping storage. The present disclosure also provides pharmaceutical products comprising a paliperidone palmitate extended-release injectable suspension within a syringe for administration to a patient suffering from schizophrenia, wherein the syringe has undergone pre-shipping storage and has been shipped, and wherein the syringe has been maintained in an orientation during the shipping that varies from the orientation of the syringe during pre-shipping storage.

摘要: A portable system for subatmospheric pressure therapy in connection with healing a surgical wound, including a wound dressing dimensioned for positioning relative to a wound bed of a subject and a subatmospheric pressure mechanism dimensioned to be carried or worn by the subject. The subatmospheric pressure mechanism includes a housing having a control unit adapted to draw a vacuum and a canister associated with the housing. The canister has a collection bag disposed therein, which is in fluid communication with the wound dressing to receive exudates from the wound bed. The collection bag is adapted to expand upon receipt of the fluids and has means to release gas from within the collection bag in connection with operation of the control unit. With this arrangement, the canister is attitude independent, i.e., the canister may be positioned on edge, on its side or on its end etc. while still maintaining operation of the control unit. The collection bag may include a hydrophobic vent or material for releasing the gases. In another embodiment, the collection bag comprises a gas permeable material. The collection bag may include one of pleats or bellows.

摘要: A liquid-collection canister includes a liquid collection chamber defined by at least one wall and a first and second gas-communication pathway formed within the at least one wall. A first aperture is positioned between the first gas-communication pathway and the liquid collection chamber to allow gaseous communication between the liquid collection chamber and the first gas-communication pathway. A second aperture is positioned between the second gas-communication pathway and the liquid collection chamber to allow gaseous communication between the liquid collection chamber and the second gas-communication pathway. A first and a second liquid-air separator are positioned over the first aperture and the second aperture, respectively, to substantially prevent liquid passing through the first and second apertures.

摘要: The present disclosure discloses a humidification device, a humidifier and a ventilator, overcoming the deficiency that when the structure of a water tank of a current ventilator causes the water tank to tilt or sway, it is easy for a large amount of water to enter a heating portion. The humidification device comprises a heating portion and a liquid inlet structure adding liquid to the heating portion. The heating portion comprises an accommodating chamber and a transition chamber limiting the amount of liquid in the accommodating chamber, and the liquid inlet structure is communicated with the transition chamber and allows the liquid to enter the transition chamber. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a large amount of stored water may be prevented from entering the heating portion and thus affecting the heating efficiency when a water tank or a similar humidification device tilts.
