    摘要: A portable generator system includes an interface mounting element for supporting a selected engine, from a plurality of engines, with a vertically oriented output shaft when the generator system is positioned on a substantially horizontal surface. A generator is directly coupled to the output shaft of the engine and rotates therewith about a common axis. The generator is selectable from a plurality of generators having different output power characteristics. A movable support cart supports interface, engine and generator and is formed of a single piece of tubular stock. The tubular stock is bent to form two substantially parallel, displaced, U-shaped regions bounded by a third U-shaped region substantially perpendicular thereto wherein the interface element, the selected engine and the selected generator are supported and protected. The cart supports first and second displaced wheels which rotate about a common axis which extends between the first and second regions, parallel to the third region. A fuel tank is carried on the cart and extends from the first side of the axis while the interface extends from the second side enabling the fuel tank to counterbalance the weight of the selected engine, the selected generator and the interface about the axis of rotation of the wheels.

    摘要: A lightweight engine-driven generator set including a stator having at least first and second windings (preferably three-phase) and a rotor having a soft magnetic core and a plurality of high energy product permanent magnets, separated by consequence poles, disposed proximate the stator such that relative motion of the rotor and stator causes magnetic flux from the rotor to interact with and induce current in the stator windings. The first winding includes a predetermined number of turns corresponding to a first predetermined voltage output; and the second winding includes a predetermined number of turns corresponding to a second predetermined voltage output, the respective windings being grouped together as a unit and wound about the core such that the respective winding coils are wound in continuous close thermal contact with each other. The first winding generates a relatively high voltage, low amperage signal, and the second winding generates a relatively low voltage, high amperage signal; and a switch provides for selection of the desired output. Preferably the rotor is a hollow cylinder mounted on the engine shaft for rotation about the stator and such that the proper gap distance between rotor and stator is maintained during rotation of the rotor without bearings external to the engine. The low voltage, high amperage winding (or winding group) may be tapped to provide a selectable voltage output. Suitable rectifiers and inverters may be provided to effect selective DC and AC output signals.

    摘要: In an outboard marine drive, a primary partition made of elastomeric material is provided in a lower part of the extension case, and a drive shaft and an exhaust pipe are sealingly passed through the primary partition. Thereby, the extension case is kept out of direct contact from the exhaust gas, and is therefore prevented from excessive heating. The exhaust pipe and the drive shaft typically have a large length, and it is advantageous to support them at parts thereof near a lower end thereof. The use of elastomeric material for the primary partition is particularly advantageous because it not only can favorably insulate heat but also can accommodate any positional errors in the exhaust pipe and the drive shaft relative to the extension case. When a secondary opening is formed in an upper part of the exhaust pipe to prevent excessive build up of exhaust back pressure when the engine is idling, a secondary partition may also be provided in an upper part of the extension case.

    摘要: A sub-piston 19 is supported movably in the upward and downward direction on an upper end of a main piston 4 to define an air-fuel mixture cooling chamber 20 between the pistons 4 and 19. The air-fuel mixture cooling chamber 20 communicates with a peripheral edge of a combustion chamber 12. The sub-piston 19 is connected to a cam member 23 which is supported on a crankshaft 7 through a subsidiary connecting rod 21. The volume of the air-fuel mixture cooling chamber 20 is increased and decreased in operative association with the rotation of the crankshaft 7. The air-fuel mixture cooling chamber 20 has an increased volume in a phase from a compression stroke to a point immediately after ignition, and the generation of a knocking is prevented by cooling an air-fuel mixture filled in such air-fuel mixture cooling chamber 20. The volume of the air-fuel mixture cooling chamber 20 is decreased from the instant immediately after ignition, thereby causing the air-fuel mixture in the air-fuel mixture cooling chamber 20 to be pushed into the combustion chamber 12 and burned therein. Thus, even if the compression ratio is increased and the ignition timing is advanced to provide an enhancement in thermal efficiency, it can be ensured that a knocking is difficult to occur.

    摘要: A loop-scavenged, two-cycle internal combustion engine has a low-pressure, cylinder wall fuel injection system that is practical for multi-cylinder marine engines and also reduces the amount of unburned hydrocarbons in exhaust emissions when compared to conventional carbureted two-cycle engines. The fuel injectors are mounted through the cylinder wall so that fuel spray contacts the piston crown underneath a zone in which incoming air flow through the transfer ports converges. The converging air flow helps to convect vaporized fuel from the piston crown upwards towards the spark plug electrode in the combustion chamber and away from the exhaust port, thereby reducing the likelihood of short circuiting unburned fuel through the exhaust port before the exhaust port closes and compression begins. All fuel is injected into the piston cavity before the exhaust port closes. In a multi-cylinder engine, all of the fuel injectors are mounted to have parallel spray axes and coplanar top ends, thus allowing the use of a straight fuel rail and convenient mounting techniques. Low-pressure fuel (e.g., 40 to 100 psi) is provided to the fuel rail and to the fuel injectors, and operation of the fuel injectors is controlled by an electronic control unit. Two fuel injectors can be provided for each cylinder to provide additional fuel injection capabilities. Various systems are disclosed for supplying pressurized fuel to the fuel rail.
