摘要: A method for finishing at least one port within a cylinder of a two-stroke engine, comprising tracing a curvature of an existing port hole for the at least one port using a force sensing tool, wherein forming an engine block for a two-stroke engine, comprising: casting the engine block, wherein the cast engine block includes at least one intake port and at least one exhaust port; rough machining a cylinder of the engine block, wherein at least one of the at least one intake port and the at least one exhaust port is positioned along a wall of the cylinder and both of the at least one intake port and the at least one exhaust port are fluidly coupled to the cylinder; and finishing an edge of at least one of the at least one intake port and the at least one exhaust port to provide a smooth surface.

摘要: Two-cycle engine includes cylinder block formed with a cylinder and crank chamber. The cylinder block includes: an exhaust passage leading to a combustion chamber in the cylinder through an exhaust port opened to an inner circumferential surface of the cylinder; a scavenging port opened to the inner circumferential surface of the cylinder; a communication passage extending from the scavenging port in a radial direction of the cylinder; and a scavenging passage extending in an axial direction of the cylinder, communicating with the crank chamber, and having an opening portion formed in a bottom surface of the communication passage. A ceiling surface of the communication passage is inclined toward a cylinder head with increasing distance from a scavenging passage side thereof toward the scavenging port. A bottom surface of the communication passage is inclined toward the crank chamber with increasing distance from a scavenging passage side thereof toward the scavenging port.

Four scavenging ports (34) include: first right and left scavenging ports (34(lef-1) and 34(ref-1)) that lie on a side relatively away from an exhaust port (22) and that lie facing each other with a cylinder (4) in between; and second right and left scavenging ports (34(lef-2) and 34(ref-2)) that lie closer to the exhaust port (22) than first right and left scavenging ports do and that lie facing each other with the cylinder (4) in between. The second left scavenging port and the first right scavenging port that make up a first mutually diagonal set (Diag-No.1) have different opening timings from those of the first left scavenging port and the second right scavenging port that make up a second mutually diagonal set (Diag-No.2).

摘要: An internal combustion may include a cylinder having a first combustion chamber at one end and a second combustion chamber at an opposing end, first and second cylinder heads located at an end of the first and second combustion chambers, respectively, and a double-faced piston slidably mounted within the cylinder. The piston may be configured to move in the cylinder in a work stroke from one end to another. The work stroke may include an expansion stroke portion and a non-expansion stroke portion. The non-expansion stroke portion may include a momentum stroke portion, and a compression stroke portion. The engine may further include first and second piston rod portions extending from opposite faces of the piston. Passageways in the piston rod portions may be configured to communicate gases between a combustion chamber and other locations.

摘要: In an internal combustion engine, first and second rotating members, one for the intake valve and one for the exhaust valve rotate next to the outside of an engine cylinder on opposite sides thereof when driven by a drive gear attached to the end of the engine's crankshaft. Each rotating member may include a ring gear having a valve port or aperture near its perimeter that cyclically aligns with a corresponding valve port formed through the cylinder wall near the top of the cylinder. A method of controlling valve timing comprises the steps of causing the rotating member containing the second valve port to periodically align in synchronism with the first port to control the passage of an air/fuel mixture and exhaust gases through the combustion cycles of the engine.

摘要: Internal combustion engines having pistons with one or more depressions located on the piston head to facilitate the movement of air/charge in the cylinder are disclosed. The pistons may include a skirt with a field of pockets that provide a ringless, non-lubricated, seal equivalent. The piston head also may be domed to further facilitate the movement of air/charge in the cylinder. The engines may also have non-circular, preferably rectangular, cross-section pistons and cylinders. The engines also may use multi-stage poppet valves in lieu of conventional poppet valves, and may include a split crankshaft. The engines may use the pumping motion of the engine piston to supercharge the cylinder with air/charge. The engines also may operate in an inverted orientation in which the piston is closer to the local gravitationally dominant terrestrial body's center of gravity at top dead center position than at bottom dead center position.

摘要: A two cycle engine having a block defining an exhaust port and a cylinder, a head, and a piston defining a combustion chamber is disclosed. The exhaust port has a resonant frequency that causes a portion of the combusted and uncombusted exhaust gasses to flow from the exhaust system and back into the combustion chamber. At a speed above the predetermined speed, a majority of the portion of the combusted and uncombusted exhaust gasses flows from the exhaust system and back into the combustion chamber without engaging the skirt of the piston.
