摘要: Disclosed are methods and devices for accessing and treating the spine, while minimizing trauma to surrounding tissue. A device is introduced through tissue, to an access point on the spine. The device is thereafter advanced axially within the spine, from the access point across a treatment zone. Spinal fusion cages, other fusion implants and/or bone growth material is introduced into at least one vertebral body and/or at least one disc space.

摘要: Devices for implantation into an intervertebral disc can include a membrane support member to augment a disc having a defect. A defect in the anulus of a disc can be repaired using a prosthesis such as a barrier. The barrier can include a sealant and an enlarger. The barrier can be implanted into the disc using a delivery cannula, an advancer and at least one control filament to control the positioning of the barrier. A stiffening element can be included within the barrier to impart stiffness to the barrier. The support member can also be connected to an anchor.

摘要: A prosthetic implant cement deflector is provided for use in prosthetic surgery when employing an implant in the form of a cannulated phantom or trial prosthesis in combination with a cannulated or cannulated surgical prosthesis or a cannulated prosthesis without a phantom prosthesis. Each cannulated phantom prosthesis or cannulated prosthesis has an insert portion for location in a bone canal and a cannulation bore extending through the insert portion to receive a guide wire. The phantom includes at least one cement deflector element adapted to slide in sealing engagement on the guide wire and which can act to seal the interface between the guide wire and the surface of the distal end of the cannulation bore. The sheath used with the implant has a preformed unperforated sheath adapted to extend over the insert portion of the implant from its distal end to a position at or adjacent to its proximal end.

摘要: A medical filler comprises a flexible and breathable filling member, and a pasty medicinal material contained in the filling member. The filling member is formed of one or more meshed walls. The filling member is compressed prior to injection of the pasty medicinal material into the filling member. The injecting of the pasty medicinal material causes the filling member to regain its original form.

In some embodiments, the sleeve is useful to protect mating implant components from contamination during insertion through the wound. In other embodiments, the sleeve is useful to clean components that have become contaminated during insertion.
