Abstract:
Two unmanned vehicles come within communication range of one another. The unmanned vehicles exchange logs of messages each has received. Each of the unmanned vehicles analyzes the messages that it received from the other unmanned vehicle to determine whether any of the received messages warrants changing a set of tasks it was planning to perform. When a message indicates that a task should be changed, the task is updated accordingly.
Abstract:
Disclosed are various embodiments for determining whether a client device is authorized to receive media content based at least in part on the call signs of broadcast stations that the client device is able to receive. A computing device receives a broadcast station identifier and a program identifier from a client computing device. The computing device determines that the client computing device is authorized to access media content identified by the program identifier based at least in part on the broadcast station identifier. Finally, the computing device streams the media content to the client computing device in response to determining that the client computing device is authorized to access the media content.
Abstract:
Approaches are described which enable a user equipment (UE) device (e.g., mobile phone, tablet computer) to measure signal strength of neighboring cells in a cellular network based at least in part on direction and/or location information of the UE device. The computing device may determine, based on location and/or direction information, that the device is moving away from a neighboring cell and either stop measuring the signal strength or reduce the rate of measuring the signal strength of that neighboring cell. This selective measuring can enable computing devices to conserve battery power and reduce processing overhead when moving between cells of a cellular network.
Abstract:
A user device receives a command to transmit information at a transmit power level specified by a wireless carrier. The user device determines whether transmitting the information at the specified transmit power level using a first duty cycle will cause the user device to violate a condition. Responsive to determining that transmitting the information at the specified transmit power level using the first duty cycle will cause the user device to violate the condition, the user device determines a new duty cycle that is lower than the first duty cycle, and transmits the information using the new duty cycle.
Abstract:
A rule server detects a condition pertaining to a switch of a user device to a preferred wireless carrier, and sends a message to the user device indicating a switch to the preferred wireless carrier.
Abstract:
Described herein are systems and methods for automatically discovering services available between two or more media devices. These services may be configured to provide content for presentation, present content, and so forth. Once discovered, connections may be established between the media devices. These connections may be used to control or deliver content using the services. The discovery, establishment of the connections, or both may occur automatically without user intervention.
Abstract:
A method for customizing a device during order fulfillment is described. A processing device receives an order for an electronic device, the order comprising customization information that is stored in a memory. The processing device wirelessly transmits the customization information into an electronic tag embedded in the electronic device while the electronic device is enclosed in associated packaging.
Abstract:
This disclosure describes a system for managing inventory as it transitions into a materials handling facility, as it transitions between locations within a materials handling facility and/or as it transitions out of a materials handling facility. In some instances, a user (e.g., picker or picking agent) may retrieve an item from an inventory location and place the item into a tote. The systems described herein detect the item when it is added to or removed from the tote.
Abstract:
A method for customizing a device during order fulfillment is described. A radio frequency identification (RFID) tag of an electronic device is wirelessly loaded with customization information at an order fulfillment center without disturbing packaging surrounding the electronic device or without powering up the electronic device.
Abstract:
This disclosure describes a distributed automated mobile vehicle (“automated mobile vehicle”) system for autonomously delivering orders of items to various delivery locations and/or autonomously returning items to a return location. In some implementations, each user may own or be assigned their own automated mobile vehicle that is associated with the user and an automated mobile vehicle control system maintained by the user. When the user orders an item, the user owned or controlled automated mobile vehicle navigates to a materials handling facility, retrieves the ordered item and delivers it to the user.
