Abstract:
A system for conducting phased array testing on a vehicle hub includes a guide element having a first end and a second end, a pivot element extending from the second end to couple to the vehicle hub, and a slide element coupled to the guide element. The slide element is movable relative to the guide element between the first end of the guide element and the second end of the guide element. The slide element including an object-receiving aperture to receive a phased array probe element.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for testing a bond interface is provided. The method comprises directing laser energy at a first surface of a first material connected to a second material by an adhesive at a bond interface. The first surface is opposite the bond interface. A first acoustic impedance of the first material is greater than a second acoustic impedance of the second material. The method also determines whether an inconsistency is present in the bond interface after directing the laser energy.
Abstract:
A shaker test system with a class D power amplifier having an analog to digital converter to receive an analog input signal and convert the analog input signal to a digital signal, pulse width modulation logic coupled to the analog to digital converter to provide a delay time to a delay line to control a transition time of a pulse width modulated signal responsive to an output of the analog to digital converter, and a class D power output stage coupled to the delay line and responsive to the pulse width modulated signal to provide an output of the class D power amplifier stage. The class D amplifier allows use of a low cost microcontroller to obtain very small pulse width increments using a low cost microcontroller to provide a low cost shaker test system incorporating the class D power amplifier.
Abstract:
A tumor-targeting multi-mode imaging and analyzing method for living body based on gold nanoclusters can include incubating the relevant cells with chloroauric acid and the salt solution thereof with certain concentration under physiological conditions, thereby generating gold nanoclusters. After, real-time non-invasive fluorescence imaging, Raman imaging and/or ultrasonic imaging can be used to image the tumor tissue.
Abstract:
A method is provided of non-destructively inspecting titanium alloy articles in the as-cast condition using ultrasonic waves to detect internal flaws, comprising modification of grain structure in the as-solidified ingot structure by the addition of trace boron to various titanium alloys. The ability to ultrasonically inspect as-cast billets combined with improved hot workability provided by trace boron enhancement permits an economical method of manufacture of titanium alloy articles destined for high performance applications.
Abstract:
A method of imaging a test subject includes providing one or more moveable sensors to sense an attribute of the test subject (e.g., acoustic pressure), wherein the attribute has a tonal noise component and a broadband noise component. A rotational sensor is provided to sense a rotational velocity of a rotational element of the test subject. Each of the moveable sensors are moved along a path while continuously acquiring test data that is indicative of the rotational velocity of the rotational element, the sensed attribute, the position, and the orientation of each of the moveable sensors. A set of transfer functions corresponding to points in space that have been visited by the moveable sensors are constructed, each of the transfer functions relating the test data of the moveable sensors to the test data of the rotational sensor. A visual representation of the tonal noise component of the attribute in a region adjacent the test subject is produced using the set of transfer functions.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for monitoring the integrity and soundness of a mechanical structure, such as an aircraft. The device comprises a control unit, a radio frequency transmission means, and an electric battery. The control unit recovers data from a set of digital and/or analog sensors. The radio frequency transmission means enables the control unit to transmit the data received from the sensors to a man/machine interface. The electric battery powers the device and is rechargeable. The device further comprises a module for recovering electromagnetic energy capable of converting the recovered electromagnetic energy into electric power so as to recharge the battery and/or directly power the device.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus comprises a transducer and an array of transducers. The transducer is associated with an object. The transducer has an elongate shape. The array of transducers is associated with the object. The array of transducers is substantially parallel to the transducer.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for the non-destructive inspection of a test object with a large material thickness by means of ultrasound. The apparatus includes an ultrasonic test probe with an ultrasonic transducer divided into a plurality of individually activatable transducer segments wherein the transducer segments are concentric circles or rings, or sections thereof. A first group j (j=1, 2, 3, . . . ) of transducer segments is selected in such a way that a parallel activation of these transducer segments results in a circular active surface Fj of the ultrasonic transducer (22). An ultrasound inspection of the test object is undertaken with the first group j (j=1, 2, 3, . . . ) of transducer segments, wherein they are activated in parallel.
Abstract:
A system for detecting partial discharge in electrical components may include a control system that may operate a drive in an industrial automation system. The industrial automation system may include the electrical components being analyzed for partial discharge. The system may also include one or more acoustic sensors that may detect one or more acoustic waveforms generated within at least one of the electrical components. The system may also include a monitoring system that may receive the acoustic waveforms from the acoustic sensors and determine whether the one electrical component is experiencing partial discharge based on the acoustic waveforms. The monitoring system may then send a notification to the control system when the one electrical component is determined to be experiencing partial discharge, such that the notification indicates that the one electrical component is experiencing partial discharge.
