Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-storage media, for self-calibrating ultrasonic removal of sea lice. In some implementations, a method includes generating, by transducers distributed in a sea lice treatment station, a first set of ultrasonic signals, detecting a second set of ultrasonic signals in response to propagation of the first set of ultrasonic signals through water, determining propagation parameters of the sea lice treatment station based on the second set of ultrasonic signals that were detected, obtaining an image of a sea louse on a fish in the sea lice treatment station, determining, from the image, a location of the sea louse in the sea lice treatment station, and generating a third set of ultrasonic signals that focuses energy at the sea louse.

The substance adsorption films changes the vibration frequency of the beam by adhesion of a substance. The substance adsorption films and the detection electrodes are respectively provided at the same position on the front and the back of the beam.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus are provided that may be applicable to refrigeration assets, including refrigeration plants and cold-storage facilities comprising large numbers of refrigeration assets. The performance of refrigerators and refrigeration devices may be monitored based on temperature and electrical current and other measurements known or deemed to be correlated with refrigeration performance. Refrigeration assets in need of repair may be identified and a repair process may be specified, classified, managed and optimized. The immediate effectiveness and long-term persistence of repairs may be determined over time. The refrigeration assets may be classified according to reliability, performance, make, model and manufacturer. The effectiveness of repairs may be classified based on measured performance results following repairs. Service providers, including organizations, companies or individuals providing repair and other services, may be evaluated for the effectiveness and persistence of repair results using benchmarks and other quantitative evaluation methods.

Abstract: A calibration system for a pulsed phase-lock loop ultrasound measurement system comprising an apparatus having a compartment for holding a pressure sensitive liquid. The compartment has an opening by which a flow of the pressure sensitive liquid may be controlled. A sensor arranged relative to the compartment to receive ultrasonic signals that reflect off one or more inner surfaces of the compartment. The system includes a processing device for receiving an integrated error signal output by the sensor based on pressure changes of the pressure sensitive liquid responsive to a change in flow of pressure sensitive liquid between the source and the compartment.

Abstract: In an example implementation, a method includes receiving, at a processor, historical pole data records representing utility poles and having one or more pole attributes. Further, the method includes performing a predictive algorithm on each pole subpopulation. Finally, the method includes determining, based on a predictive algorithm, the number of poles in the particular subpopulation that are likely to meet a rejection condition within a specified time frame. In another example implementation, a method includes receiving a sample pole data record representing a particular sample data pole and determining the likelihood of the particular sample utility pole meeting a rejection condition within a specified time frame.

Abstract: A multi-modal biosensor system includes a vibrating plate orientated along a plane. An actuator is interfaced with the vibrating plate and operable to vibrate the vibrating plate along the plane. The actuator includes two electrodes rigidly affixed to the vibrating plate. An optical support structure is rigidly affixed to the vibrating plate, and provides an outwardly facing surface to receive a measurement sample. A light source is configured to project light onto the outwardly facing surface of the optical support structure. A light detector is configured to capture light reflected from the outwardly facing surface of the optical support structure. A controller interfaces with the two electrodes and the light detector. The controller operates to detect changes in the vibrating motion of the vibrating plate concurrently with detecting changes in the light captured by the light detector.
