Abstract:
An integrated sensor and optical phase/amplitude modulator device including a modulator stacked on or above a detector. A circuit receives a signal outputted from the detector in response to an input field irradiating the detector. The circuit performs binary operations comprising classifying the input phase of the input electromagnetic radiation into one of two ranges and setting the modulator into one of two states depending on which range the input phase is classified into. The modulator transmits output electromagnetic radiation having an output field modulated according to the state of the modulator set by the circuit.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for irradiating a scattering medium with increased resolution. The method includes transmitting EM radiation from an Electromagnetic (EM) radiation source to a target inside a scattering medium, wherein the target encodes the EM radiation with a variance structure to form encoded EM radiation; measuring, in a detector, transmitted EM radiation comprising at least a portion of the encoded EM radiation transmitted through and exiting the scattering medium; decoding the transmitted EM radiation, comprising EM fields, in a computer, comprising selecting one or more of the EM fields having the variance structure; and irradiating the scattering medium with time reversed EM radiation from a spatial light modulator (SLM), the time reversed EM radiation generated from time reversing the EM fields having the variance structure, thereby forming a focus of the time reversed EM radiation in the scattering medium with the increased resolution.

Certain embodiments pertain to Multiplexed Fourier Ptychographic imaging systems and methods. In one example, the Multiplexed Fourier Ptychographic imaging system includes an LED array configured to illuminate a sequence of LED patterns for illuminating a sample being imaged. The system includes LED circuitry configured to independently control power to turn on multiple LEDs simultaneously in each LED pattern of the array. The system has a light detector that acquires a first set of lower resolution images of the sample each image acquired during exposure time during illumination by a unique LED pattern. The system uses the first set of lower resolution images to generate a second set of lower resolution images associated with each LED in the LED array and iteratively updates overlapping regions in the Fourier domain with the second set of lower resolution images to generate a higher resolution image.

Certain aspects pertain to Fourier camera systems and methods. In one aspect, a Fourier camera comprises a first optical system, a second optical system, a variable aperture filter, and a light detector. The first optical system configured to receive illumination reflected from a curved sample surface. The variable aperture filter configured to move an aperture to a plurality of aperture locations in a Fourier plane, wherein the aperture filters light from the first optical system to the second optical system. The light detector configured to receive light from the second optical system, and configured to acquire a plurality of raw intensity images of the curved sample surface corresponding to the plurality of aperture locations, wherein the raw images are iteratively updated in overlapping regions in Fourier space to generate a focused, substantially uniform resolution image of the curved sample surface, and wherein the overlapping regions correspond to the plurality of aperture locations.

Systems, devices, and methods of Fourier ptychographic imaging by computationally reconstructing a high-resolution image by iteratively updating overlapping regions of variably-illuminated, low-resolution intensity images in Fourier space.
Abstract:
A system, method, and apparatus provide the ability to reconstruct an image from an object. A hand-held image acquisition device is configured to acquire local image information from a physical object. A tracking system obtains displacement information for the hand-held acquisition device while the device is acquiring the local image information. An image reconstruction system computes the inverse of the displacement information and combines the inverse with the local image information to transform the local image information into a reconstructed local image information. A display device displays the reconstructed local image information.
