摘要: An engine having an engine case on one side of which a V-belt type of continuously variable transmission is provided, the CVT being placed in a transmission case and constituted that a V-belt is routed around a drive pulley and a driven pulley, the drive pulley being attached to one end of a crankshaft, the driven pulley being attached to one end of a transmission shaft parallel to the crankshaft, characterized in that the crankshaft is supported for free rotation with the engine case, one end of the crankshaft is projected in cantilever fashion from the engine case into the transmission case, the drive pulley is attached to the projected portion, and the transmission case is made as a component separate from or independent of the engine case and supported with the engine case so that a space is present between the engine case and the transmission case.

摘要: An internal combustion engine is provided with a roughly concave cylinder head, wherein a ridge descends into the combustion chamber. A first wall is formed from the ridge to a cylinder periphery to form a seat for an air intake valve. A second wall is formed from the ridge to the opposite cylinder periphery to form a seat for one or more exhaust valves. The valves must criss-cross to open/close. The result is a more efficient flow of intake air and exhaust air to and from the combustion chamber which creates more horsepower. A plug compatible cylinder head can be installed on an engine to get added horsepower without a supercharger.

摘要: An outboard motor is provided with an engine compartment exhaust passage that is formed by joining via a joining part an exhaust manifold connected to a cylinder head and an exhaust guide connected to an exhaust passage of a mount case. By bending the portion of the exhaust manifold that is lower than the lowest combustion chamber so as to be farther away from the cylinder head than other portions of the exhaust manifold, the space in which the exhaust manifold is arranged can be minimized, and the joining part can be prevented from interfering with the cylinder head while minimizing any influence on the exhaust efficiency.

摘要: A water-cooled vertical engine is provided with an exhaust guide cooling water jacket and an exhaust manifold cooling water jacket formed in an engine compartment exhaust passage, a cylinder block cooling water jacket formed in a cylinder block, and a cylinder head cooling water jacket formed in a cylinder head. A first cooling path for supplying cooling water from a cooling water pump to the cylinder block cooling water jacket via the exhaust guide cooling water jacket and the exhaust manifold cooling water jacket is substantially independent from a second cooling path for supplying cooling water from the cooling water pump to the cylinder head cooling water jacket. Thermostats are provided in the cylinder block cooling water jacket and the cylinder head cooling water jacket, respectively.

摘要: To reduce the size and weight of an engine body and improve the mountability and maintainability of transmitting rods in a valve train for an OHV engine having a crankshaft, a crankcase for rotatably supporting the crankshaft, a camshaft incorporated in the crankcase, cylinder heads connected to the crankcase, engine valves operably provided in the cylinder heads, and the transmitting rods for transmitting a valve operating force due to the rotation of the camshaft to the engine valves. The transmitting rods as pull rods are arranged on one side of cylinder barrels. One end portion of each transmitting rod is formed with an engaging portion disengageably engaged with a hook portion of a mating member. An engine body or a guide member, fixed to the engine body, is provided with a guide portion for guiding the engaging portion to the hook portion of the mating member.

摘要: A cylinder head, for an internal combustion engine, enhances engine efficiency while ensuring favorable coolant flow. The cylinder head includes a main casting body 41 having a hollow water jacket formed therein, to allow coolant flow therethrough. The main casting body 41 includes a plurality of cylindrical plug hole walls 91 which have plug holes 90 formed therein inside a head-side water jacket 60. The cylinder head also includes partitions 100, formed inside the head-side water jacket 60, and these partitions connect the plug hole walls 91 together form a dividing wall, which divides the water jacket into an exhaust port section and an intake port section. Coolant entering the water jacket is divided into two substreams, which flow initially in substantially opposite directions, and which are reunited after flowing around opposite ends of the dividing wall.

The fuel injector produces an asymmetrical injection volume, so that the electrodes of the spark plug (3) are not directly affected by liquid fuel. The electrodes are, however, situated in a region reached by evaporating fuel.
