摘要: Novel stress-reducing crosslinking oligomers that have application in dental restoratives, thin films, hardcoats, composites, adhesives, and other uses subject to stress reduction are described. The addition-fragmentation process of crosslinking results in a chain-transfer event that provides novel polymers that may be further functionalized. In addition, the addition-fragmentation oligomer comprises pendent functional groups that bond to a substrate by forming an ionic or covalent bond, or etch the substrate by chemically removing some material from the substrate.

摘要: Provided is a production method which can attain exfoliating treatment of graphite and a process of grafting a polymer onto exfoliated graphite simultaneously and thus makes it possible to easily obtain an exfoliated graphite-polymer composite material in a short time. A method for producing an exfoliated graphite-polymer composite material includes a step of mixing graphite or primary exfoliated graphite, a depolymerizable monomer of which the polymer is decomposed by heating to generate radicals and also to form a monomer or an oligomer, or the polymer A of the monomer, or a polymer B which forms radicals at a temperature close to its decomposition temperature to obtain a mixture; and a heating step of putting the mixture in a non-open container to heat the mixture to a first temperature range from the ceiling temperature or higher to the onset decomposition temperature or lower, or to a temperature higher than the first temperature range.

摘要: Described herein is combination of flocculants for flocculating fines solids in a suspension thereof. The combination includes: (a) an anionic polymer flocculant, and (b) a charged particle-polymer hybrid flocculant that includes charged core particles having an average size between about 150 nm and about 800 nm and each having a polymer polymerized thereon. The anionic polymer flocculant is to be added before, or at substantially the same time as, the charged particle-polymer hybrid flocculant.

In some embodiments, a persistent carbene may be associated with a portion of a substrate (e.g., at least a portion of a surface on the substrate). In certain embodiments, the association of persistent carbene with the substrate may be used to affect certain properties of substrate (e.g., surface chemistry, stability). In some cases, a persistent carbene may be functionalized after association with a portion of a substrate. In some embodiments, a persistent carbene and at least one secondary compound may be associated with a portion of a substrate. Articles and methods of the present invention may be useful for applications involving electronics, sensing, microfabrication, nanotechnology, biomimetic, and drug delivery, amongst others.

摘要: A method of forming lightweight structures from particle networks includes functionalizing edges of particles of an anisotropic material, exfoliating of the particles to form sheets of the material, aligning the sheets of material to form a network of multi-layered and aligned particles, and forming a structure out of the network of particles. One example uses graphite powder mixed into 4-aminobenzoic acid for edge functionalization, and exfoliation occurs with sonication in a solvent. The resulting particles undergo alignment with an aligning nozzle that also dispenses the aligned particles to form a structure.

摘要: There is provided an exfoliated graphite-resin composite material that has high dispersibility in resins and the like and is easily handled. An exfoliated graphite-resin composite material in which exfoliated graphite and a resin form a composite. When an amount of methylene blue adsorbed per g of the exfoliated graphite-resin composite material (μmol/g) is y, the amount of methylene blue adsorbed as measured based on a difference between an absorbance of a methanol solution of methylene blue at a concentration of 10 mg/L and an absorbance of a supernatant liquid obtained by introducing the exfoliated graphite-resin composite material into the methanol solution of methylene blue and performing centrifugation, and a BET specific surface area (m2/g) of the exfoliated graphite-resin composite material is x, a ratio y/x is 0.15 or more, and the BET specific surface area is 25 m2/g or more.
