Abstract: In some embodiments, a method may include reducing the microbial load in contaminated water of water recycle loops. These water recycling loops may include pulp and paper mills, cooling towers and water loops, evaporation ponds, feedstock processing systems and/or non-potable water systems. The methods may include providing a peracetate oxidant solution. The peracetate solution may include peracetate anions and a peracid. In some embodiments, the peracetate solution may include a pH from about pH 10 to about pH 12. In some embodiments, the peracetate solution has a molar ratio of peracetate anions to peracid ranging from about 60:1 to about 6000:1. In some embodiments, the peracetate solution has a molar ratio of peracetate to hydrogen peroxide of greater than about 16:1. The peracetate solution may provide bleaching, sanitizing and/or disinfection of contaminated water and surfaces. The peracetate oxidant solution may provide enhanced separation of microbes from contaminated water.

Abstract: A multi-copolymer, methods for producing the same and using thereof in wastewater treatment application are provided. The method includes pre-mixing by mass 10-30 parts by mass of alkenyl succinic anhydrides, 10-30 parts of vinylbenzyltrimethylammonium chloride, and 10-30 parts of dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate with water to form a first mixture; reacting the first mixture comprising passing thereof through inert gases to provide reflux protection, and adding by mass 10-30 parts of vinyl acetate and 10-30 parts of acrylamide to form a second mixture, followed by heating the second mixture and adding an initiator therein to initiate the reaction. The present invention is simple, at low cost, safe, non-toxic, environmentally friendly, easy to operate, with a better water purification efficiency than that of conventional macromolecule flocculants, multi-functional, good product stability, strong adsorption bridging ability, less dosage requirement for the water treatment agent, and results in a sturdy sludge cake and easily separated flocs.

Abstract: An acidic water-based process was developed for the synthesis of anionic lignin copolymers with adjustable MW, thermal stability and solubility in water. The anionic lignin copolymer described herein comprises: a molecular weight of 5,000 to 7.4×105 g/mol; and a charge density of −1 to −7.2 meq/g. The anionic lignin copolymers described herein which have a molecular weight range of 000-50,000 g/mol can be used as dispersants of negatively charged molecules or particles in numerous process or wastewater streams (e.g. concrete admixtures, gypsum slurries, textile dye) while such copolymers in a molecular weight range of 90,000-740,000 g/mole can be used as flocculants of positively charged molecules or particles in numerous process and wastewater streams including industrial and municipal systems and sludge dewatering in the textile dye, pulp & paper, mining and oil industries.
