摘要: In one aspect, methods of depolymerization are described herein comprising providing a synthetic polymer including a hydroxylated aliphatic backbone or hydroxylated backbone segments, and homolytically activing O—H bonds of the hydroxyl groups. Homolytic activation induces the formation of alkoxy radical intermediates followed by C—C bond β-scission events breaking the polymer backbone into depolymerization products. In some embodiments, depolymerization products comprise alkyl radical intermediates reduced by hydrogen atom transfer. Moreover, in some embodiments, the depolymerization products are further reacted into difunctionalized products or comprise functionalities derived from the polymer structure. The difunctionalized products can subsequently be employed in polymerization processes for the production of additional synthetic polymers.

摘要: A lubricating composition comprises an oil-soluble poly(2-oxazoline) additive having the repeat unit: —N(COR1)CH2CH2— where the number of repeat units (n) is an integer between 4 and 1000; where the polymer carries an inorganic or organic nucleophilic polymerization terminating group t, and a linear, branched or cyclic hydrocarbyl polymerization initiator group (i); and where R1 comprises a single or a mixture of linear branched or cyclic hydrocarbyl groups having 1-100 carbon atoms, some or all having 12-100 carbon atoms, or of at least one macro-monomeric hydrocarbyl group with more than 50 carbon atoms provided that when the polymer is a homopolymer and R1 lacks any hetero atoms; (A) i has a molecular weight of less than 250 g/mol, and R1 has an average number of carbon atoms of 12 to 50; or (B) n is greater than 15. The polymer may provide the composition, in the form of a lubricant, with friction modifier, and with low impact on lubricant viscosity.The polymer may be a homopolymer, a block copolymer or a star polymer.

摘要: The invention relates to novel compounds of formula (III) that can be used as heterocyclic dyes of unique structure and properties. These compounds can be obtained in a three-step synthesis from simple substrates. The compounds according to the invention have excellent solubility in organic solvents and excellent film-forming properties. In addition, high efficiency of energy conversion, excellent field-effect mobility, good on/off current ratios and/or excellent stability can be observed, when the compounds according to the invention are used in organic field effect transistors, organic photovoltaics (solar cells) and photodiodes.

摘要: A process for preparing a polyoxazoline includes feeding continuously an oxazoline, a solvent, and a catalyst to a continuous stirred tank reactor at a rate which provides for a residence time sufficient to achieve ring opening of the oxazoline and polymerize the oxazoline; exiting a polyoxazoline solution from the continuous stirred reactor, the polyoxazoline solution including polyoxazoline, solvent, and, optionally, unreacted oxazoline, low molecular weight oligomeric oxazoline, or a mixture thereof; removing the solvent, and, optionally, unreacted oxazoline, low molecular weight oligomeric oxazoline, or a mixture thereof from the polyoxazoline solution; and recovering the polyoxazoline.
