摘要： Apparatus and methods are provided for creating tubular devices, e.g., as components for catheters, sheaths, and or other devices sized for introduction into a patient. In one embodiment, a method is provided for making a tubular device using a sheet of material including a coated first surface. The sheet is rolled around a mandrel until longitudinal edges of the sheet are disposed near or adjacent one another, e.g., without attaching the longitudinal edges together. A tubular braid is positioned over the sheet-wrapped mandrel, one or more tubular segments are positioned over the tubular braid, and heat shrink tubing is positioned over the tubular segments. The resulting assembly is heated to cause the tubular segments to at least partially reflow and/or otherwise laminate the tubular segments to the tubular braid and sheet. The heat shrink tubing and mandrel are then removed to create the tubular device.

An elongated core capable of movement about a line is provided. An elongated tubular member is formed around a moving length of the core by extruding a coating of a functionalized polymer around the moving core length, applying a reinforcing member to an outer surface of the functionalized polymer coating along the moving length, and extruding a polymeric outer jacket over the functionalized polymer and reinforcing member along the moving length, such that a bond is formed between the functionalized polymer and the polymeric outer jacket. The elongated tubular member is cut to desired length to form the tubular medical device, and the core is removed from the device.

To facilitate pouring a pourable substance from the containment portion, the plastic bag includes a pour spout. The pour spout includes an aperture that is defined in a lip. The lip can be formed into a channel such that the pourable substance is directed through the aperture. The plastic bag also includes a series of ribs that are formed in the region where the bag is folded to define a bottom end. The ribs reinforce the bottom end without compromising the flexibility of the bottom end.
