Abstract: A robotic surgical system comprises a horizontal platform to support a patient, a rail positioned about the horizontal platform, a carriage operatively coupled to and configured to translate along the rail, and a robotic arm operatively coupled to the carriage and translated about the patient by the rail. The robotic arm is configured to operate on the patient in a variety of positions provided by the translating carriage. The rail provides a rounded path for the carriage, such as a U-shaped path. The U-shaped path may comprise a first leg and a second leg, the first leg longer than the second leg. Furthermore, the system may comprise a plurality of carriages operatively coupled to the rail and a plurality of robotic arms. Also, the system may further comprise a central base which the horizontal platform can articulate relative to, such as by translating horizontally or vertically, rotating, or titling.

Abstract: A surgical tool includes a drive housing having opposing first and second ends and a drive input rotatably mounted to the drive housing at the first end, a carriage mounted entirely within the drive housing and movable between the first and second ends via actuation of the drive input, an instrument driver matable with the drive housing at the first end, a drive output matable with the drive input such that rotation of the drive output rotates the drive input and translates the carriage within the drive housing, a shaft coupled to and extending distally from the carriage and penetrating the first end and the instrument driver, and a fin connected to the carriage and accessible by a user at an exterior of the drive housing, the fin being manually translatable along the exterior of the drive housing between the first and second ends to thereby translate the carriage.

Abstract: A system for positioning a patient before, during or after a medical procedure can include an arm assembly having a proximal end, an opposing distal end, and at least one joint therebetween. The joint can be configured to permit the distal end of the arm assembly to move with respect to the proximal end of the arm assembly. The proximal end of the arm assembly can be configured to be fixed with respect to a surgical table. The system can also include a ball joint mechanism attached to the distal end of the arm assembly and to a head support configured to support a patient's head. The ball joint mechanism can include a ball joint and a motor. Activation of the motor can permit or prevent movement of the ball joint.

Abstract: A surgical table comprising a base and a patient support supported between opposed ends of the base, each opposed end including a pitch/roll assembly. The base is configured such that the patient support can be rolled and pitched relative to the opposed ends via the pitch/roll assemblies such that the roll axis of each pitch/roll assembly remains coaxial regardless of how the patient support is pitched or rolled relative to the base. The patient support includes an outer frame and an inner frame supported on, and displaceable relative to, the outer frame. The inner frame is further articulating about, and relative to, itself. The outer frame is rigid in that it does not change configurations.

Abstract: Systems, devices and methods are described for mounting medical equipment on IV poles, bed rails and other supporting structures in medical facilities including operating rooms and critical care sections. A system including a mounting hanger and corresponding equipment housing is disclosed that allows quick mounting and dismounting of equipment from a supporting structure. The novel structural design of mounting hanger including a symmetrical t-slot feature and a plunger lock allows a piece of equipment to be mounted on a supporting structure in multiple orientations as per the requirement which allows a user to optimize the placement of equipment in the medical environment.

Abstract: A patient securing overlay is provided that includes a sheet of fabric for supporting a patient's torso on a surgical table. The sheet of fabric has an upper surface configured to face the patient and a lower surface configured to face a surgical table mattress or underbody support. The sheet of fabric includes friction enhancing elements applied to at least a portion of the upper surface thereof. The sheet of fabric can include an extension at a foot end of the sheet of fabric that provides material to be tucked under a foot end of the surgical table mattress or underbody support for securing the foot end of the sheet of fabric to the surgical table mattress or underbody support. The extension can include one or more friction enhancing elements.

Abstract: A cylinder device for a hydraulic lifting device has a housing and a piston rod axially movable relative to the housing. A rotary element is mounted on the housing in such a way that a rotary movement of the rotary element relative to the housing is possible and an axial movement of the rotary element relative to the housing is prevented. The piston rod has a movement transmission element, wherein the movement transmission element translates an axial movement of the piston rod into a rotary movement of the rotary element. A sensor unit is attached to the housing, which detects the rotary movement of the rotary element. Furthermore, a hydraulic lifting device with such a cylinder device, a chassis of a mobile device with a lifting device and a mobile device with a chassis are provided.
