摘要: A clamping device and method for human-medicine or veterinary-medicine applications for the frictionally engaged locking of at least two holding segments, the clamping device has a first holding segment, a second holding segment; a driveable spindle, via which a rotational movement can be converted into an axial longitudinal movement for spindle-locking the second holding segment, and a threaded plate. In this case, the threaded plate can be moved axially in the opposite direction during the spindle movement, wherein, by counter-movement of the threaded plate, at least one wedge body is moveable in a ramp system, in order to clamp the first holding segment.

摘要: A passive constraint device is disclosed which attaches to a laparoscopic instrument to kinematically constrain the user from over-gripping the instrument and to train the user in proper handling of the instrument. Passive constraint devices include three degrees of freedom adjustment of a palm rest and clamps to the laparoscopic instrument. An active constraint device is disclosed which attaches to a laparoscopic instrument to dynamically constrain a user from over-gripping the instrument and provide resistive feedback to a user to train the user in proper handling of the instrument. Active constraint devices include a finger guard that, in one embodiment, is elastic and, in other embodiments, is solid but connects to finger loops of a laparoscopic instrument via elastic connectors. Methods of use include a method for training surgical residents in the proper handling of laparoscopic instruments using passive and active constraint devices during residency training.

摘要: A medical instrument includes a backend and a pair of release elements. The backend includes a docking feature shaped to engage a docking structure such as a docking port of a surgical robot or a sterile adaptor for a surgical robot. Each release element is coupled to the backend and may include an activation feature on one side of the backend and a push tab extending from either an opposite side or the same side of the backend. Movement of the activation features moves the push tabs from being aligned with the docking feature to pushing on the docking structure, permitting the medical instrument to be disengaged from the docking structure. Optionally, a coupling of the release elements limits a movement of the activation features.

摘要: A shield assembly for protecting against airborne droplets and other fluids, particularly excreted from humans. The shield assembly may generally comprise a shield, one or more support plates or members, a stand, and, optionally, a frame for holding the shield. The shield can be pivotally engaged with the stand, allowing a user of the shield assembly to change the pitch of the shield. The shield assembly may be engaged with a medical table, bed, or gurney, or alternatively may be engaged with a portable, moveable base. A user may position the shield assembly such that the shield thereof is disposed between the user's face and a source of airborne droplets or fluids.

摘要: An endotracheal tube holder device is provided for securely holding an endotracheal tube to a patient during intubation. The tube holder device includes a support rail placed above a lip of a patient. An auxiliary clip is coupled to the support rail and slidably movable along the length of the support rail for holding an accessory device relative to the patient's face. The auxiliary clip includes both a horizontal accessory holder and a vertical accessory holder to releasably retain the accessory device horizontally and vertically, respectively. A tube fastener is coupled to the support rail and includes a tube holder base, an adjustment clip coupled to the tube bolder base for laterally repositioning the tube holder base along the support rail, and a securement tie. The securement tie may be wrapped around a portion of the endotracheal tube to secure the tube to the tube holder base.
