摘要:
Systems and methods for providing accurate and independent control of reverberation properties are disclosed. In some embodiments, a system may include a reverberation processing system, a direct processing system, and a combiner. The reverberation processing system can include a reverb initial power (RIP) control system and a reverberator. The RIP control system can include a reverb initial gain (RIG) and a RIP corrector. The RIG can be configured to apply a RIG value to the input signal, and the RIP corrector can be configured to apply a RIP correction factor to the signal from the RIG. The reverberator can be configured to apply reverberation effects to the signal from the RIP control system. In some embodiments, one or more values and/or correction factors can be calculated and applied such that the signal output from a component in the reverberation processing system is normalized to a predetermined value (e.g., unity (1.0)).

Provided are, among other things, systems, methods and techniques for processing an audio signal to add virtual bass. In one representative embodiment, an apparatus includes: (a) an input line that inputs an original audio signal; (b) a bass extraction filter that extracts a bass portion of such original audio signal; (c) an estimator that estimates a fundamental frequency of a bass sound within such bass portion; (d) a frequency translator that shifts the bass portion by a positive frequency increment that is an integer multiple of the fundamental frequency estimated by the estimator, thereby providing a virtual bass signal; (f) an adder having (i) inputs coupled to the original audio signal and to the virtual bass signal and (ii) an output; and (g) an audio output device coupled to the output of the adder.

A system generates a haptic signal. The system receives an audio signal, pre-processes the audio signal by modifying the audio signal to create a modified audio signal, and maps the modified audio signal to a haptic signal. The system then sends the haptic signal to an actuator to generate one or more haptic effects.

A high pass filter 32 having a cut-off frequency of 200 Hz and a cut-off response of +12 dB/OCT and a low pass filter 33 having a cut-off frequency of 400 Hz and a cut-off response steeper than −24 dB/OCT are used to pick out components in a double overtone region of 200˜400 Hz of a bass musical instrument such as a base or a bass drum from an input audio signal. The component which is picked out is input to distortion applying means 34 having an input-output response which is a non-linear response having no point symmetry with respect to 0 point, thus applying a distortion to cause even-numbered overtone components to be produced. An output from the distortion applying means 34 and the input audio signal are summed in a summer 18 to be delivered. Natural tones which have boosted bass tones and which are free from impurity are obtained.

A method and apparatus for producing a tone (e.g. for music) without use of a waveform memory and using a feedback loop. The feedback loop includes a waveform generator which calculates, in real time, a parabolic approximation to a sine wave. The feedback loop includes a delay phase differencer to eliminate hunting. The output waveform from the feedback loop is provided to a sine function generator which approximates a sine value using a third order polynomial, to provide the output tone.

In an automated system for learning to play a musical instrument, music data and tone control data for a musical composition of an exemplary musical instrument is stored in machine readable form. An audio signal generated by a musical instrument being played, corresponding to the exemplary musical instrument, is inputted through a musical effects apparatus wherein the musical tone of the musical instrument being played is mixed with the stored music data. The musical effects apparatus is utilized, under digital control, to match the musical tone of the musical instrument being played with that of the exemplary musical instrument. More particularly, the music data and tone control data of the musical composition are stored on a conventional CD-ROM. The tone control data is utilized to create control parameters which can be used to control one or more electronic effects devices in an automated fashion. The stored parameters include control data utilized to set the values of one or more digitally-controlled programmable resistor networks capable of conditioning the input audio signal under digital control, without first converting the conditioned audio signal to a digital signal.

A harmonic tone generator produces a harmonics signal even for input audio signals of a small amplitude. Conversion of a digitized audio signal in accordance with a predetermined non-linear function is performed also for an audio signal of a small amplitude. According to the second aspect of the invention, a level difference between the digital audio signal level in the present sampling time and the audio signal level in the preceding sampling time is detected and the detected level difference is converted to an output value in accordance with a predetermined non-linear function by a non-linear converting circuit. The converted output value is accumulated. According to the third aspect of the invention, the detected level difference is converted to a function conversion output in accordance with a predetermined function by a non-linear converting circuit. A gain of an amplifier to amplify the audio signal in the present sampling time is changed in accordance with the function conversion output.

A distortion effector includes a calculation section for performing a predetermined higher-degree expression calculation on an input digital sound signal, and a multiplication section that is provided in series with the calculation section for multiplying the digital sound signal by a coefficient that is adjusted so as to utilize a specific portion of the higher-degree expression which exhibits a smooth distortion characteristic. The digital sound signal is distorted in accordance with a smooth non-linear curve based on the higher-degree expression calculation, to thereby achieve a mild distortion effect. In a multi-effector capable of imparting three or more predetermined effects in such a manner that the effects can be selected to be imparted independently of each other, a registration device is provided for registering, for each of the effects, whether the effect should be made switchable or not. When a collective-switching switch is operated, control is performed such that the effect-on or effect-off state is inversively switched for any effect registered as switchable. For any effect registered as non-switchable by the registration device, the effect-on or effect-off state is not switched even when the collective-switching switch is operated.

A musical tone synthesizing apparatus provides a closed loop containing an adder, a delay circuit, a filter and a gain control portion. The delay circuit has a delay time which is set responsive to a tone pitch of a musical tone to be produced. An excitation signal is produced in response to the musical tone to be produced and is introduced into the closed loop through the adder, so that the excitation signal circulates through the closed loop. The gain control portion is provided to control a loop gain of the closed loop on the basis of a preset parameter and another parameter which is controlled responsive to a tone color of the musical tone to be produced. The signal circulating through the closed loop is picked up as a musical tone signal representing the musical tone to be produced. By controlling the loop gain of the closed loop, an attenuation characteristic of the musical tone signal is controlled. Hence, it is possible to freely control a sounding time of a decay sound such as a guitar sound.
