    摘要: The described technology is generally directed towards providing a visible waveform representation of an audio signal, by processing the audio signal with a polynomial (e.g., cubic) mapping function. Coefficients of the polynomial mapping function are predetermined based on constraints (e.g., slope information and desired range of the resultant curve), and whether the plotted audio waveform corresponds to sound field quantities or power quantities. Once the visible representation of the reshaped audio waveform is displayed, audio and/or video editing operations can be performed, e.g., by time-aligning other audio or video with the reshaped audio waveform, and/or modifying the reshaped audio waveform to change the underlying audio data.

    摘要: A signal representation method and apparatus for digital audio provides high quality low cost resampling by transferring the difficult interpolative computations into front-end (off-line) preprocessing, thereby reducing the load on the tone generating synthesis processor. This allows nearly perfect arbitrary-ratio resampling of stored waveforms at a fraction of the cost of prior art resampling. It also allows elimination of the prior art polyphase coefficient table since the waveform reconstruction information is fully contained within the polynomials. This is especially advantageous for execution on general purpose multi-tasking media processors.

    摘要: An electronic musical instrument comprises an analysis section, an excitation-waveform memory and a synthesis section. In the analysis section, difference data, which are calculated between target-sound data and output of an analysis loop, are subjected to compressive coding to produce compressed data. The compressed data are stored in the excitation-waveform memory as excitation-waveform data. The analysis loop, containing at least a delay circuit, is driven by an excitation signal which is produced by expanding the compressed data. In the synthesis section, the excitation-waveform data, read out from the excitation-waveform memory, are expanded; and expanded data are added to output of a synthesis loop, containing at least a delay circuit, so as to produce musical tone data representative of a musical tone to be generated. By arbitrarily selecting coefficients for compression and expansion which are respectively performed in the analysis section and synthesis section , the musical tone data are controlled to be an equivalence of the target-sound data. Further, the excitation-waveform memory is designed to merely store compressed excitation-waveform data, so capacity required for the memory can be reduced.

    摘要: An additive sound synthesis process for generating complex, realistic sounds is realized in a computationally efficient manner. In accordance with one aspect of the invention, polyphony is efficiently achieved by dosing the energy of a given partial between separate transform sums corresponding to different channels. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, noise is injected by randomly perturbing the phase of the sound, either on a per-partial basis or on a transform-sum basis. In the latter instance, the phase is perturbed in different regions of the spectrum to a degree determined by the amount of energy present in the respective regions of the spectrum. In accordance with yet another aspect of the invention, a transform sum representing a sound is processed in the transform domain to achieve with great economy effects achievable only at much greater expense outside the transform domain. Other transforms besides the Fourier transform may be used to advantage. For example, use of the Hartley transform produces comparable results but allows transforms to be computed at approximately twice the speed as the Fourier transform.

    摘要: In a karaoke apparatus responsive to a request for producing a karaoke accompaniment according to performance data, a sound source of a physical model type is controlled according to shape data which characterizes an acoustic vibration of a model musical instrument for electrically simulating the acoustic vibration to synthesize a tone waveform as if created by the model musical instrument, and is driven according to performance data for sequentially processing the tone waveform to produce the karaoke accompaniment. A distributor is settable with the shape data for feeding the sound source with the set physical data. A memory stores a plurality of items of performance data and a plurality of types of shape data in correspondence with each other. A driver is responsive to the request for retrieving from the memory a requested item of the performance data to sequentially feed the same to the sound source to thereby commence the karaoke accompaniment, and operates before the karaoke accompaniment is commenced for retrieving from the memory a corresponding type of the shape data to set the same into the distributor so that the sound source can be fed with a pair of the requested item of the performance data and the corresponding type of the shape data. A downloader downloads new types of the shape data into the memory to update a file containing a plurality of old types of the shape data.
