    摘要: A composition for producing an optically clear, well bonded superhydrophobic coating includes a plurality of hydrophobic particles comprising an average particle size of about 200 nm or less, a binder at a binder concentration of from about 0.1 wt. % to about 0.5 wt. %, and a solvent. The hydrophobic particles may be present in the composition at a particle concentration of from about 0.1 wt. % to about 1 wt. %. An optically transparent, superhydrophobic surface includes a substrate, a plurality of hydrophobic particles having an average particle size of about 200 nm or less dispersed over the substrate, and a discontinuous binder layer bonding the hydrophobic particles to the substrate, where the hydrophobic particles and the binder layer form an optically transparent, superhydrophobic coating.

    摘要: An optical disk of a system wherein a recording layer is to be irradiated through a thin film cover layer with a laser beam, wherein a hard coat layer (W) is formed on the thin film cover layer, and the hard coat layer (W) is made of a cured product of a coating composition (X) comprising a polyfunctional compound (A) having at least two active energy ray curable polymerizable functional groups, a water and oil repellency-imparting agent (B), an active energy ray polymerization initiator (C) and a colloidal silica (D) having an average particle size of from 1 to 200 nm, provided that the water and oil repellency-imparting agent (B) is a water and oil repellency-imparting agent (B-T) having, in one molecule, a moiety (b-1) exerting water and oil repellency, a moiety (b-2) excellent in compatibility with the polyfunctional compound (A) and an active energy ray curable functional group (b-3). In the optical disk of the present invention, the hard coat layer formed on the surface of the thin film cover layer is excellent in abrasion resistance, transparency and long-term sebum stain proofness, particularly removability of fingerprints attached to its surface.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a coating composition for fibrous substrates made up of 0.5 to 25 percent by weight of a water-insoluble emulsion polymer comprising from greater than 0.4 to 3 mole percent of one or more cationic monomer units and at least 50 mole percent of at least one vinyl ester monomer; 25 to 75 percent by weight pigment; cationic surfactant; and water. The coating is useful on fibrous substrates on which liquid inks will be fixed. The cationic nature of the coating provides the substrate with an excellent point of attachment for anionic inks and dyes, resulting in bright, crisp printed images. The coating is especially useful for ink-jet printing on paper, paperboard, textiles, non-wovens, and wood.

    摘要: Hot melt type traffic paint compositions contain as binders partially ring-hydrogenated resins derived by hydrogenating from 20 to 70% of the aromatic rings of an aromatic hydrocarbon resin obtainable by polymerization in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst of fractions prepared so as to have a conjugated diolefin content of not more than 1.0 wt % and in a ratio of not more than 3.0% with respect to the total amount of polymerizable ingredients and a total content of indene and its alkyl derivatives of not more than 4.0 wt % and in a ratio of not more than 12.0% with respect to the total amount of polymerizable ingredients, said fractions obtained by distillation of cracked oil fractions which have boiling points in the range from 140.degree. to 220.degree. C. and are prepared by cracking of petroleum. These traffic paint compositions provide a favorable antiweathering property, heat resistance and flow characteristics.
