摘要: Multilayer tubes including an inner layer and a tie layer are described. The inner layer includes a fluorinated polymer, and has an inner surface defining an inner diameter of the multilayer tube and an outer surface separated from the inner surface by a thickness of the inner layer. The tie layer includes a functionalized styrene block copolymer and is disposed on the outer surface of the inner layer. When the multilayer tube further includes an outer layer, the multilayer tubes exhibit improved peel strength as compared to multilayer tubes including the inner layer and outer layer alone. Methods of manufacturing the multilayer tubes and articles comprising the multilayer tubes are also described.

摘要: A manufacturing method fora pipeline flow diverter or stent includes activating a blood-contacting metal surface of the medical device via i) propene plasma treatment or ii) contacting the surface with an organic solution comprising a silane functional compound having an ethylenically unsaturated functional group, wherein the organic solution follows a blood flow path through the medical device; grafting a polymeric hydrogel to the activated surface; bonding a positively charged spacer molecule to the polymeric hydrogel by contacting the polymeric hydrogel with a first wet chemistry treatment composition comprising an aqueous solution containing a cationic polymer, wherein the first wet chemistry treatment follows a blood flow path through the medical device; and covalently bonding heparin to the spacer molecule by contacting the spacer molecule with a second wet chemistry treatment composition comprising heparin, wherein the second wet chemistry treatment follows a blood flow path through the medical device.

摘要: A catheter and a method of making a transition structure of a catheter. The catheter includes at least one polymeric layer including at least one transition structure. Each transition structure is a tubular structure including a homogeneous material zone and a heterogeneous material zone. Any continuous closed region of the homogeneous material zone is referred to as a first sub-region and any continuous closed region of the heterogeneous material zone as a second sub-region, and any axial section of the transition structure includes at least one second sub-region. A leading section and/or a trailing section of the transition structure include(s) at least one first sub-region and at least one second sub-region. The catheter has smooth transitioning of flexibility/stiffness and mechanical properties, which can enhance the catheter's delivery performance.

The braided structure may include one or more yarn members imbedded in a material and formed from a plurality of twisted singles. The twisted singles may be formed from an aromatic polyamide material.

For example, the blend can comprise at least 80% by weight of one or more of LLDPE, LDPE, MDPE, and HDPE, and no more than 20% by weight of UHMWPE. Such tubes can have low average wall thicknesses, e.g., 0.1 mm or less, rendering them suitable for use as catheter liners.

摘要: A catheter shaft includes an inner layer defining an innermost circumferential surface of the catheter shaft and defining a lumen of the catheter shaft, and an outer layer defining an outermost circumferential surface of the catheter shaft. The inner layer is formed by a first polymer having a first durometer and a first melting temperature. The outer layer is formed by alternating first and second segments of the first polymer and a second polymer, respectively, that alternate in a circumferential direction. The second polymer has a second durometer softer than the first durometer and a second melting temperature lower than the first melting temperature. Each segment of the alternating first and second segments extend in an axial direction for substantially an entire length of the catheter shaft. A method of forming the catheter shaft via extrusion is also disclosed.
