Abstract: A method may include coupling a first delivery device to a catheter assembly, which may include a catheter dwelling within vasculature of a patient. The first delivery device may include a first tubular instrument. In response to the first tubular instrument being in a distal position, a distal surface of the first tubular instrument may be disposed at a first distance beyond the distal tip of the catheter. The method may include coupling a second delivery device to the catheter assembly after uncoupling the first delivery device from the catheter assembly. The second delivery device may include a second tubular instrument. In response to the second tubular instrument being in the distal position, a distal surface of the second tubular instrument may be disposed at a second distance beyond the distal tip of the catheter. The second distance may be greater than the first distance.

Abstract: An IV device assembly may include a lumen forming a fluidic channel within the IV device assembly. The lumen may be fluidically coupled to a vascular access device (VAD) coupler via a funnel coupler, and an IV device assembly coupler at a proximal end of the lumen. The IV device assembly may also include one or more of the following: a collapsible sleeve formed coaxially around a first portion of the lumen and mechanically coupled to the funnel coupler, a patency instrument formed along a second portion of the lumen within the collapsible sleeve and into the VAD coupler, a translation handle that translates the patency instrument out of a distal end of the VAD coupler, and a fixed grip formed around the lumen to maintain a position of the IV device assembly relative to the translation handle.

Abstract: Inserts can be formed with elution characteristics to cause the inserts to elute an antimicrobial agent when subject to a fluid within a medical device. An insert can be formed with a desired geometry to allow the insert to be compression fit within a medical device to prevent the insert from moving or becoming dislodged once inserted into the medical device. The material may also be hygroscopic so that the insert swells when subject to a fluid thereby enhancing the compression fit of the device within the medical device. In some cases, the material can be reinforced using an internal structure. Inserts can be formed in many ways including by casting, thermoforming, or extrusion. In some cases, the inserts can be formed using a peel-away sleeve or material. The peel-away sleeves can be formed of a non-sticky material which facilitates removal of the inserts once the inserts have cured.

Abstract: Provided herein is a blood draw device for use with a PIVC. The blood draw device includes a catheter, an introducer housing, and an actuator movably coupled to the introducer housing. The introducer housing includes a first member and a second member coupled together via a plurality of snaps to define an inner volume configured to movably receive the catheter. A plurality of lower snaps is formed on the first housing member and spaced apart between proximal and distal ends thereof, each of the lower snaps having a hook that is oriented downward. A first upper snap is formed on the first housing member at a distal end thereof, the first upper snap having a hook that is oriented upward. Abstract: Provided herein is a catheter system that includes an intravenous catheter assembly including a catheter defining a lumen extending between a distal end and a proximal end of the catheter and an access connector configured to provide access to the lumen of the catheter. The catheter system also includes a disinfecting probe coupleable to the access connector, with the disinfecting probe including a housing having a proximal end and a distal end, a lighting system disposed at least partially within the housing and configured to emit a disinfecting ultraviolet light, and an advancement member configured to advance a portion of the lighting system beyond the distal end of the housing and into the catheter, responsive to movement of the advancement member with respect to the housing, wherein the disinfecting ultraviolet light disinfects the lumen of the catheter upon being advanced therein by the advancement member.
