摘要: A system and method for anatomical markers includes an anatomical marker. The anatomical marker includes a first material observable to a first imaging modality and a second material observable to a second imaging modality. The first material is different from the second material. The first imaging modality is different from the second imaging modality. The first and second imaging modalities obtain their images without using light in a visible spectrum. In some embodiments, the anatomical marker further includes one or more superabsorbent polymers for absorbing and containing the one or more superabsorbent polymers. In some embodiments, the anatomical marker further includes a liquid or gel including the first and second materials, wherein the liquid or gel is configured to be applied to the anatomy of the patient. In some embodiments, the anatomical markers may be used to register a medical tool to anatomy of a patient.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a treatment apparatus. The treatment apparatus includes a rotatable gantry system positioned at least partially around a patient support and a first source of radiation coupled to the rotatable gantry system. The first source of radiation is configured to emit imaging x-ray radiation after pausing for a time interval between periodic emissions. The apparatus further includes a radiation detector configured to receive x-ray radiation from the first radiation source and generate tomographic data from the received radiation. The radiation detector is subject to a transient effect caused by at least one of polarization and charge trapping. The time interval is sufficiently long for the transient effect to substantially dissipate.

摘要: A method for processing breast tissue image data includes processing the image data to generate a set of image slices collectively depicting the patient's breast; for each image slice, applying one or more filters associated with a plurality of multi-level feature modules, each configured to represent and recognize an assigned characteristic or feature of a high-dimensional object; generating at each multi-level feature module a feature map depicting regions of the image slice having the assigned feature; combining the feature maps generated from the plurality of multi-level feature modules into a combined image object map indicating a probability that the high-dimensional object is present at a particular location of the image slice; and creating a 2D synthesized image identifying one or more high-dimensional objects based at least in part on object maps generated for a plurality of image slices.

摘要: While performing a tomosynthesis procedure, the breast of a patient is compressed between two compression elements to create an imaging condition. Foam is secured to the rigid substrate of a one of the compression elements. The patient's chest wall is aligned with the leading edge surface of the foam. The inner side of the breast is disposed proximate the lateral edge surface of the foam and the outer side of the breast is disposed proximate the outer lateral edge surface of the foam. A mid-plane is disposed between the inner and outer lateral edge surfaces of the foam. An interface connects a leading edge surface of the foam and compressive surfaces. A portion of the leading edge surface which is aligned with the mid-plane is incompletely compressed.

The carrier comprising a housing configured to be removeably coupled to the broadband x-ray source and configured to accommodate a secondary target capable of producing monochromatic x-ray radiation in response to incident broadband x-ray radiation, the housing comprising a transmissive portion configured to allow broadband x-ray radiation to be transmitted to the secondary target when present, and a blocking portion configured to absorb broadband x-ray radiation.

摘要: A processor detects a surgical tool from a radiographic image acquired by irradiating a subject with radiation emitted from a radiation source and detecting the radiation transmitted through the subject with a radiation detector. The processor measures a size of the detected surgical tool on the radiographic image. The processor derives a position of the surgical tool in a height direction in the subject on the basis of an actual size of the surgical tool, the measured size, and a geometrical positional relationship between a position of the radiation source and a position of a detection surface of the radiation detector.
