摘要: For larger FOV in a gamma camera, multiple solid-state detectors are tiled. The edge pixels of the pixelated detectors are smaller than interior pixels so that the pitch of the pixels or anodes is constant across the tiled detectors. The constant pitch occurs where pairs of edge pixels combined from different detectors contribute the pitch or area of an interior pixel. As a result of this optimized edge pixel pairing and corresponding regular pitch across the tiles, the spectral and other performance is less degraded.

The x-ray source may be a transmission-type x-ray tube configured to output the fan beam centered in an x-ray extraction direction forming an angle greater than 0 degrees with respect to a longitudinal axis of the x-ray tube.

The PCCT apparatus obtains projection data divided into plural energy bins by irradiating a subject with X-rays, and includes: a first correction unit that corrects a band artifact of a first material decomposition image among plural material decomposition images created on the basis of the projection data, and calculates a first correction amount that is a correction amount for the band artifact; an energy calculation unit that calculates an average energy of X-rays that transmit the subject; and a second correction unit that corrects the band artifact of a second material decomposition image using a second correction amount that is a correction amount calculated on the basis of the first correction amount and the average energy.

摘要: A method and a system for providing calibration for a polychromatic photon counting detector forward counting model. Measurements with multiple materials and known path lengths are used to calibrate the photon counting detector counting response of the forward model. The flux independent weighted bin response function is estimated using the expectation maximization method, and then used to estimate the pileup correction terms at plural tube voltage settings for each detector pixel. The beam hardening corrections are then applied to the measured projection data sinogram, and the corrected sinogram is reconstructed to the counting image at the selected single energy.
