Abstract: An electronic apparatus performs a method of decoding video data, including receiving, from bitstream, a first syntax element in a slice header of a slice that indicates whether luma mapping with chroma scaling (LMCS) is applied to a coding unit in the slice; receiving a second syntax element for the coding unit that indicates whether the coding unit has been coded using adaptive color-space transform (ACT); if the second syntax element has a non-zero value, decoding the coding unit by applying inverse ACT to convert luma and chroma residuals of the coding unit from a transformed color space to an original color space of the video data; and if the first syntax element has a non-zero value, decoding the coding unit by performing inverse luma mapping to the luma samples and inverse scaling to the chroma residuals of the coding unit after performing the inverse ACT.

Abstract: A method for video encoding is provided. The method includes determining, by an encoder, a reference picture associated with a video block; determining, by the encoder, initial prediction samples of the video block from the reference picture; deriving, by the encoder, internal prediction refinement with optical flow (PROF) parameters of a PROF derivation process by applying right-shifting operations, wherein the internal PROF parameters comprise horizontal gradient values, vertical gradient values, horizontal motion difference values, and vertical motion difference values derived for samples in the video block; determining, by the encoder, prediction refinement values for the samples in the video block based on the horizontal gradient values, the vertical gradient values, the horizontal motion difference values, and the vertical motion difference values; and determining, by the encoder, refined prediction samples of the video block based on the initial prediction samples and the prediction refinement values.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are a video encoding/decoding method and apparatus. The video decoding method of the present disclosure includes: obtaining block partitioning information of a current block; based on the block partitioning information, partitioning the current block into a first sub-block and a second sub-block; deriving motion information of the first sub-block and motion information of the second sub-block respectively; based on the motion information of the first sub-block and the motion information of the second sub-block, generating a prediction sample of the first sub-block and a prediction sample of the second sub-block respectively; and through a weighted-sum of the prediction sample of the first sub-block and the prediction sample of the second sub-block, generating a prediction sample of the current block. Herein, the block partitioning information is index information indicating an index of a table including information indicating a plurality of predefined asymmetric partition shapes.

Abstract: A decoder includes an entropy decoder configured to derive a number of bins of the binarizations from the data stream using binary entropy decoding by selecting a context among different contexts and updating probability states associated with the different contexts, dependent on previously decoded portions of the data stream; a desymbolizer configured to debinarize the binarizations of the syntax elements to obtain integer values of the syntax elements; a reconstructor configured to reconstruct the video based on the integer values of the syntax elements using a quantization parameter, wherein the entropy decoder is configured to distinguish between 126 probability states and to initialize the probability states associated with the different contexts according to a linear equation of the quantization parameter, wherein the entropy decoder is configured to, for each of the different contexts, derive a slope and an offset of the linear equation from first and second four bit parts of a respective 8 bit initialization value.

Abstract: An image encoding/decoding method and apparatus are provided. An image decoding method according to the present disclosure may comprise obtaining a reconstructed picture, determining a target boundary of deblocking filtering in the reconstructed picture, determining a boundary strength for the target boundary, and applying deblocking filtering to the target boundary based on the boundary strength. Based on the target boundary being a transform block boundary and a color component of the reconstructed picture being a chroma component, the boundary strength may be determined based on whether joint CbCr residual coding is performed on at least one of two blocks adjacent to the target boundary, and the joint CbCr residual coding may correspond to encoding residual samples for a chroma Cb component and a chroma Cr component as a single transform block.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for using wide-angle intra prediction for rectangular blocks enable greater prediction angles. Wide-angle intra prediction enables intra prediction direction angles beyond the conventional 45 and −135 degrees. In one embodiment, when a video block to be coded or decoded is non-square, additional intra prediction directions are enabled in the direction of the longer block edge and more reference samples are available along that edge. An index is used to indicate the prediction direction and can be adapted according to the additional intra predictions in the longer direction, with correspondingly fewer prediction directions along the shorter block edge. This preserves the number of prediction modes that need to be indexed but allows their angles to correspond to the shape of the block.
