Abstract: A point cloud encoding and decoding method, an encoder, and a decoder are provided. The encoder determines a processing order of point cloud data during point cloud encoding. The encoder determines a coordinate-axis-order index corresponding to the processing order. The encoder encodes the coordinate-axis-order index and signals encoded bits into a bitstream. The encoder processes the point cloud data according to the processing order, to obtain point cloud data to-be-encoded. The encoder encodes the point cloud data to-be-encoded and signals encoded bits into the bitstream. The decoder parses a bitstream to obtain a coordinate-axis-order index, determines a processing order of point cloud data during point cloud decoding according to the coordinate-axis-order index, parses the bitstream to obtain recovered data of the point cloud data, and determines a position of coordinate data of the point cloud data in a storage unit of the recovered data according to the processing order.

In a representative aspect, a method for video encoding includes partitioning, based on a first rule, a luma component of a block of video data into a first set of sub-blocks. The method also includes partitioning, based on a second rule, a first chroma component of the block of video data into a second set of sub-blocks. The first and the second set of sub-blocks include different numbers of sub-blocks. The method also includes performing a subsequent motion prediction based on the first and the second set of sub-blocks.

Abstract: In a method of video encoding, a corresponding block of a current block in a current picture is determined based on an offset vector that indicates an offset between the current block and the corresponding block. The current block includes a plurality of subblocks to be encoded in a subblock-based frame-rate up conversion (FRUC) mode. A temporal motion vector predictor (TMVP) of a first subblock in the corresponding block is determined based on a subblock in a forward reference picture of the current picture and a subblock in a backward reference picture of the current picture. The subblocks in the forward reference picture and the backward reference picture are matched using the subblock-based FRUC mode. Based on the TMVP, a TMVP of a subblock is determined in the plurality of subblocks in the current block.

Abstract: A system and method of decoding a coding unit in an image frame from a bitstream. The method comprises determining a size of the coding unit from the bitstream; and dividing the image frame into a plurality of equally sized processing regions, each of the equally sized processing regions being a block processed during a single stage of a pipeline decoding the bitstream. If the coding unit overlaps a boundary between the determined processing regions, the method comprises selecting a transform size for the coding unit from a plurality of transform sizes, the transform size being selected to fit within the coding unit and being different in size to the processing regions; and decoding the coding unit by applying an inverse transform to residual coefficients of each transform unit in the coding unit, each of the transform units being of the selected transform size.
