Abstract: An image encoding/decoding method, a bitstream transmission method, and a computer-readable recording medium storing a bitstream are provided. The image decoding method performed by an image decoding apparatus, according to the present disclosure, comprises the steps of: on the basis of whether or not reordering of prediction candidates in a merge mode with motion vector difference (MMVD) mode is activated, determining whether or not to reorder the prediction candidates; identifying a prediction candidate indicated by prediction candidate identification information from the prediction candidates or the reordered prediction candidates; and deriving an offset of the MMVD mode on the basis of the identified prediction candidate, wherein the prediction candidate identification information is acquired from a bitstream.

Abstract: A method for decoding a 360-degree image includes: receiving a bitstream obtained by encoding a 360-degree image; generating a prediction image by making reference to syntax information obtained from the received bitstream; combining the generated prediction image with a residual image obtained by dequantizing and inverse-transforming the bitstream, so as to obtain a decoded image; and reconstructing the decoded image into a 360-degree image according to a projection format. Here, generating the prediction image includes: checking, from the syntax information, prediction mode accuracy for a current block to be decoded; determining whether the checked prediction mode accuracy corresponds to most probable mode (MPM) information obtained from the syntax information; and when the checked prediction mode accuracy does not correspond to the MPM information, reconfiguring the MPM information according to the prediction mode accuracy for the current block.

Abstract: A method of visual media processing is provided. The method includes determining a size of a buffer to store reference samples for prediction in an intra block copy mode, and performing a conversion between a current video block of visual media data and a bitstream of the current video block. The conversion is performed using the reference samples stored in the buffer, and in the intra block copy (IBC) mode. The IBC mode is based on motion information related to a reconstructed block located in same video region with the current video block without referring to a reference picture.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and an apparatus including processing circuitry that determines, based on a syntax element in a coded video bitstream, that a current block including a plurality of subblocks is coded in a subblock-based temporal motion vector prediction (SbTMVP) mode. Motion vector offset (MVO) information indicating an MVO is received. The MVO indicates a motion offset of a displacement vector (DV) used to adjust a location of a collocated block in a collocated reference picture. An updated DV of the current block is determined based on the DV and the MVO. SbTMVP information of a respective subblock in the plurality of subblocks is derived based on motion information of a corresponding subblock in the collocated block indicated by the updated DV. The plurality of subblocks in the SbTMVP mode is reconstructed based on the SbTMVP information of the subblock in the plurality of subblocks.

Abstract: PROF (Prediction Refinement with Optical Flow) and BDOF (Bi-directional Optical Flow) use the optical flow model to provide sample-wise motion compensation refinement. In one implementation, to calculate the spatial gradients in BDOF, an extended region is generated around a block to be coded. To simplify the computation, BDOF may use the same padding operations as in PROF, namely, a padding sample is copied from the nearest integer neighbor in the reference picture. BDOF and PROF can also be used together when sub-block based affine motion-compensated prediction is used. BDOF can be applied after PROF generates new prediction blocks, or BDOF can use the spatial gradients in the original prediction blocks to re-use the computations with PROF. In addition, BDOF and PROF operations can be combined, and the prediction adjustment will be directly based on the spatial gradients in the original prediction blocks.

If equal candidates are not in the list, the modified candidates are added to the candidate list. If equal candidates are already in the list, the modified candidates are not added to the list. Operations that can be performed comprise rounding and clipping.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatuses for decoding an image. A method includes receiving a bitstream obtained by encoding the image; dividing a first coding block into a plurality of second coding blocks; generating a prediction block of a second coding block based on syntax information obtained from the bitstream; and reconstructing the second coding block based on the prediction block and a residual block of the second coding block, the residual block being obtained by performing a dequantization and an inverse-transform on quantized transform coefficients from the bitstream. The first coding block has a recursive division structure. The first coding block is divided based on at least one of a quad tree division, a binary tree division or a triple tree division.

Abstract: An image decoding method can be performed by an image decoding apparatus. The image decoding method can include obtaining image information including prediction mode information for a current block, deriving a prediction mode of the current block based on the prediction mode information, deriving reference samples neighboring the current block, deriving prediction samples of the current block based on the prediction mode of the current block and the reference samples, and generating reconstructed samples of the current block based on the prediction samples. The reference samples include top reference samples of the current block and left reference samples of the current block. Further, whether a filtering is applied to the reference samples is determined based on the prediction mode of the current block and a size of the current block.
